Nomenclature aside, frozen custard is basically any ice cream made "new york" style, which is an ice cream made with a tempered egg mixture. Ice creams made "Philadelphia" style have no egg in them whatsoever, and aren't usually scalded beforehand, and therefore do not qualify to be a frozen custard.
I believe what the thread is addressing though really is the difference between soft serve and regular scooped ice cream.
Oh, and if you need any further clarifications, I can help. I did go to school for an associates degree in pastry, so food is one of my passions.
Well, sometimes a word that brits use to describe one thing means a completely different thing on this side of the pond. I don't think it's the same kind of custard you're thinking of.addylewis said:FROZEN CUSTARD?! - ZUH?!
