Favorite obscure movies

I fall asleep during all movies these days.
Even dozed off for a few seconds during The Last Jedi.
Movies are my sedative.

This is an interesting observation to me because I find it hard myself to maintain interest in some supposedly good current movies. I think it's partly an age thing, and part being spoiled by truly great storytelling by low-budget TV shows. I'd rather watch Stranger Things or Westworld or Ozark or Better Call Saul than most movies being released these days.

If I'm 45 minutes into a movie and it's making me drowsy, it's a FAIL. Even if they spent $200M to make it.

My very favorite movie is practically unheard of here in the States, but it swept the Canadian Genie awards back in 1982...

Budget be damned...to my mind, this might be 'The Perfect Movie'. (to my mind...:))

...a little something, much more recent, but just about as obscure...

I had Absolutly No Idea that the loveabe dolt who gave us Stepbrothers & Ricky Bobby had This movie in him!
I was stunned!

I saw Everything Must Go.
Actually liked it. Not a Will Farrell movie fan, but like him in the RHCP. ;)

Space Truckers.jpg Go_Tell_the_Spartans_1978.jpg Firebase Gloria.jpg Twilight's Last Gleaming.png These are some of my favorite and fairly obscure movies..
Space Truckers - Dennis Hopper haulin' freight in space. Not really a bad movie, but it sure ain't Olivier doing Hamlet.
Go Tell The Spartans -
Burt Lancaster as a frustrated Army Colonel "Advisor" in the not-quite-yet Viet Nam war.
Siege Of Fire Base Gloria - R. Lee Ermy wrote the screen play; a pretty serious anti-war film. The version with sub titles for the NVA's side of the mess is a must.
Twilight's Last Gleaming - Burt Lancaster again, in a post-Viet Nam government cover-up conspiracy. I saw it in a military base theater when it came out, and there were a Lot of very angry, very unhappy vets in there when it was over. And, based on what we know now, their anger was justified...

You're better at this than Hulu.
I watch a movie or show then as the movie is ending it tries to tell me what else I might like.
Not only is it almost always wrong about guessing what I might like, some of the choices based on the movie I watched make no sense. Because I watched "Machete" I might like a "Very Brady Movie?"
Perhaps after watching the second one I'll want to use a machete on myself?
That's Funny

I know this has been done before, but I wanna do it again and want to ask in the first post if anyone has seen the Netflix movie, Creep?

I caught it about a year ago and thought it was pretty good (and twisted), and then I noticed today there was a Creep 2.

I'm not big on sequels, so I was considering passing - but this was one of the few movies I've seen where the 2nd one outdid the first.

I don't really like slasher or horror films cuz they seem too cartoonish to me. Not sure if this falls into either of those categories... might be more of a psychological thriller, but yeah.... I think it's definitely worth the watch. I'd watch the first one, first.

Wouldn't say this was my favorite, but it's definitely one of them. Will post more down the line.

What are your favs?

Not too sure how the 2nd would stand on it's own. Knowing the main character from the first kinda made it shine for me.

Finally saw Creep 2 last night. I had high hopes, but I really didn't like it. The premise was unbelievable compared to the first, and I found myself not caring about either character. It didn't come close to capturing the sense of dread that the first had.

Go home. You're not welcome here any more.

:)

I liked the female character. I felt they did a really good job of justifying her stupidity. I kinda felt about the first the way you did about the 2nd.

Truth be told both movies stretched believability a bit, but given the rest of the plot I thing the writer did as good a job as anyone could have.
