I don't know why so many hard core trekkers hated this show. It holds up better to repeated viewing than ST:TNG IMO and is much more consistent than Voyager was.

I really liked "Life on Mars" with Harvey Keitel, Jason O'Mara, and Michael Imperioli.

I love the 70's cop atmosphere - the cars, the music, and the lack of PC.

Can't read through all the pages prior, but if 'The Slap Maxwell Story' with Dabney Coleman hasn't been mentioned, let me do so now. And 'Buffalo Bill' - same kinda premise and also starring Dabney Coleman. I guess I just like a$$hole characters. Cartman before Cartman.

And a another 'yup' to the original 'Outer Limits'. Scared the bejeezuz out this 10 year old. The lumpy alien creature confined to a small, dark box, not knowing that a world outside existed - still hits me hard. Existential, dude. Like Plato's cave.

There was a new season earlier in the year (or maybe last year). Though I didn't see it, so can't comment on quality!

Have you seen the original British version? If not, I'd strongly suggest giving a watch (also, Ashes to Ashes is quite a good watch too, though not quite as good as Life on Mars. Ashes to Ashes is similar in theme, but based in the 80s).

Also, nobody plays Gene Hunt like Philip Glenister!
