Poor Tim Conway couldn't catch a break sometimes.

Gentle Ben - the ongoing adventures of a family in the Florida Everglades, pretty normal family in every respect but one, the family pet was a 650 pound black bear!!

Actually it didn't deserve even the short run on TV it got.
But I was like 10 years old, I saw all five episodes, and it probably shaped my brain in terrible ways. So I think of it fondly.

Get A Life...... Chris Elliot... It was on for a few seasons back in the early 90s. I remeber watching it religously every week with my brother in law while my wife would just sit there and roll her eyes.
Such a stupid show about a 30 year old paper boy who lived with his parents.
We used to just sit there and crack up watching Chris's weekly adventures.

Who remembers a show called "Here Come The Brides" starring Bobby Sherman and David Soul along with some well known actors and actresses. Somehow, this show managed to last for 2 seasons.
I was shocked to see Sledgehammer! mentioned because that's immediately what I thought of when I saw the title to this thread.
Monsters (mid-late 80s cheesy version of the Twilight Zone, usually a little tongue in cheek) was another favorite of mine.
Amazing Stories was good too, and is currently on Netflix.
Anyone remember Voyagers? It was a guy and a kid traveling through time fixing things that were going wrong so the course of history wouldn't be altered. I was pretty young when it was on (1st/2nd grade) but I loved it.
How about the show That's Incredible? I'm not sure if it was short-lived, but I used to love watching people solve Rubik's cubes with their feet in 30 seconds.
On a side note, I recently got my daughter hooked on MacGyver... lol...
EDIT: I was reading through the thread and I forgot Greatest American Hero. How could I, I sang the Costanza version of the theme song on my voice mail! I used to work with an ER doc who looked like him, and one of the nurses and I used to break into "Believe it or not..." whenever he came out of a room. Poor guy never knew lol.

I see quite a few people mentioning Twin Peaks. I agree it should have gone on longer but only if it had gone directly from the first season into a different second season. First season was awesome, but when the network started pushing to solve Laura Palmers murder in the second season, it went downhill fast.
Who remembers these two short lived Burt Reynolds TV shows?

I remember Dan August! Wasn't there a quick scene in the opening credits where Burt slides across a floor with his fist out in front of him? (just YouTubed it; my memory serves correctly!) My brother and I used to copy that anytime we had access to a slick floor and enough room to get up speed.
