I don’t think anyone mentioned the divine Betty Carter. No one recording stands out in my mind, but I love how she approaches everything. Even though she obviously comes outta the Sarah Vaughn school, she breathes fresh life into everything, even the most tired standard. This is one of the rare times Tidal isn’t doing it for me in terms of her discography. One day I’ll check out that “Rune” streaming dealio…
