Makes perfect sense to me. Basses make acoustic guitars 'take off' with feedback all the time! It could be loud monitors, proximity to the pa subs, etc... Usually, one would count on the mix engineer isolating and cutting the offending frequency with eq. If that doesn't happen (for whatever reason), flipping a basses phase could very likely solve the problem, but likely with a resulting thin bass tone on stage. Either way, I'd rather have thin bass tone than run-away feedback every time I hit a certain note!
I actually had this problem at a gig this weekend. The mix engineer couldn't seem to find the right spot to cut as everytime I played a low A, the acoustic started rumbling. If I had my fdeck in line I might have been able to fix it.
