fdecks HPF, Part II

High volume 9v rechargeable. EBL A radio zero. 600mah lithium ion. It also says 6F22 on it. Got them from battery junction. Before that I used an energizer that lasted about 4 or 5 months. But I used to keep the fdeck plugged in. Not sure if that effected it like it would other pedals. So I unplug it leaving no patches plugged into when not in use. Do you know if leaving a patch plugged into the "IN" will kill/use the battery when not in use?

On the HPF-Pre, you can leave something plugged into "IN" but not "OUT."

I got some of these because the reviews were a little better on Amazon. Will report back on how they work. They come off the charger at ~10v but settle down to ~9.6v pretty quickly.

I have four of these plus the charger. Been using them for years. My son bought them for me when he got me a wireless system. I used them in the transmitter for several years (rotating them). I have also used them in the series 3 before I set everything up in a rack. Now I use a 1Spot.

Those batteries have always worked great for me!

Cool man, thanks for the word...feel better about using them now. Big fan of rechargables for lots of reasons!!

I've been trying to remember how long I have had those batteries. I know it has been 3 or possibly 4 years. They still work fine. I don't use them that much anymore. But I still keep 'em around. I mostly save them for use with the wireless system.

I think you will be happy with their service.

Finally bought a Series III, should be here Friday!

A very useful tool to have. I don't use it all the time but I keep it connected to my main rig. Used it last Saturday at a big outdoor gig. I'm really glad I had it connected when we had a guest bassist (a close friend of mine) came up for a couple of tunes. Good for quick adjustments.

We have totally different playing styles, and a couple of adjustments on the series 3 and he was ready.

Did the same thing with a 'sit-in'...i like the extra insurance against speaker damage if someone starts going nuts on their bass!

Finally got to use my series 3 at a city event.
I believe it was set around 80hz.
When playing different funk songs, I raised it to about 50hz.
So much easier than messing around with EQ settings.

I had sold my series 3 as I wasn't having much of an issue (playing just 4-string, no sub harmonics with my amp), but recently I've been using an octave pedal more and am finding that when I dig in it can challenge my cab. So I ordered up another one to hopefully tame things down there a bit. We'll see how it works out.

I find it really helps when using an octave pedal. I forgot my HPF3 on one of my loud gigs and when I hit the octave pedal my cab really compressed and I could smell burning. Not good. Nothing had changed in my settings since the previous gig with that rig except the lack of HPF3.

Yep. I keep mine in line for this reason too. I'm pretty happy to share my setup, and people haven't abused it, but at the same time its nice insurance. Also, to it's credit, I've never had any other bass player comment that my rig lacks lows or has even noticed what it does.

I was thinking after band practice the other night I don't how I ever got by without my series 3. It is easily the most valuable player on my pedal board! Makes such quick work of boomy rooms. I cant think of a practice or gig that I don't you use it to some degree! Worth every penny!

So I was wondering, i have an mxr 10 band eq that's cutting 12db at 32hz and 6-9db at 60hz along with my hpf set around 80hz. Is this what you guys would do with the particular mxr? Or is it over kill to have the mxr elimating the sub bass frequencies? And should I keep both of those at 0db? Lol

In this use as you describe the MXR wouldn't be doing anything. The FDeck will be removing almost everything below 80 Hz and the MXR would just be removing nothingness. :)

Well, it sounds like its doing something. If I reintroduce the 60hz into the signal through the mxr, I can hear the bass being added back in and vice versa. I was inebriated when I asked this question I'm not sure why I asked it, haha. I guess I was wondering if by doing all this cutting between the hpf and mxr if it was stacking, and if it would be "unnatural" so to speak. Everything sounds quite excellent however, so that kind of mutes my question LOL

Even with the hpf set at 80hz, there's still frequencies below that in one's signal, just not to the same extent as the hpf being absent in the signal chain. Am I right? I'm just making assumptions heh heh:D
