Side question for you Frank: Is there anything you'd suggest to prevent accidental bumping of settings?
I spend a good amount of time tweaking my DBD, but some knobs turn kinda easy.
I've tried taping a strip over them, but then I can't see the LED.

I keep my "always on" pedals off the floor, its just easier for me.

Bongo, you are evil. I've been on the waiting list for months and months! I'm playing at a major festival in a few weeks and was planning on using my PT-Mini with the DE-CL, but it looks like I will have to drag out the big board with the Dual-band Comp/Lim. - I can't take it off the board as it's wired through the board (TrailerTrash) with Lava cables.

And you CANNOT post a pic of your new toy without having a review of it on your website. Not cool! Not cool at all! Now get reviewing. I need to get my new comp soon before I pick up an Empress comp (I'm in Ottawa) and cancel my order for the DE-CL.

Now get moving, before I send my mom after you! I'll expect that review to be uploaded by tonight!

Oh, and thanks and advance, you evil, evil man.

Hi,
The next batch of the Dual-Band comps will be started after this batch of DE-CL’s. The next Dual-Band batch should cover about half of the notification list.

Hi,
The list for the DE-CL is now larger than the batch quantity, but there has always been some that will pass when they get notified. After the next batch of Dual-Band comps another batch of DE-CL’s will be started.

Our policy is that if you ask to be on a particular list we will hold that spot for you until you tell us otherwise or pass when your are notified. We don’t require or ask for a purchase obligation from anyone. We do not accept prepayments or down payments to hold a spot (your spot is already locked in via request)… so we really have no way to accurately predict attrition. Each time a batch is complete the notification response has been very different from the others before it.

I know it sounds iffy for me to say that the next batch of Dual-Band comps should cover half of the Dual-Band comp list… but that’s the best estimate that I can honestly make.:)

That's tough to answer. Frank and I are probably the only people that actually have all three to compare directly. :) While they are definitely different from each other, their overall nature is such that I'd have a hard time convincing myself or anyone else that it makes sense to have more than one. That is, they all cover a range of "clean smooth tone with versatile dynamic control", and the differences are really just in how you get there. For example I tend to have a boomy low B string, due to my preferences in bass setup and the fact that I fail to lighten up my pluck when playing that string. So I could fix the boom by adjusting my setup or my technique, or I could use a compressor, and each of the FEA models offers different methods for that kind of correction. But in the end, the point in that case would still be for the B string to be less boomy. It's like having two or three really nice cars to drive. Does a Beamer compliment a Lexus?

All that said, I do actually use the Dual-Band and the Opti-FET for complimentary tones/effects. I use the Dual-Band for crisp, articulate sounds with tight lows, and the Opti for warm, smooth sounds with fat lows. So I mean the question does make sense, but if I wasn't "who I am" with compressors, I surely would not have gone there with these.

Hey Bongo, now that you've had about a week with the DE-CL, what are your first impressions? Inquiring minds are dying to know...

I've been longing for a pedal like this for a long lonnnnng time; not a big fan of heavy compression ratios but always wanted to pair a fat "LA-2A sounding" opto compressor to even out the heavier passages with a brick wall limiter for slapping.

I have to hold off on most of my first impressions because the one I got turned out to have a bad component. A new pedal is en route.

One thing I can say is the "Warmth" knob is nuts! Several of us impressed on Frank the idea that it would be better to have the option to dial in a wide range up to and including "too much" warmth, rather than stopping short with a warmth effect that somebody might find too subtle. So he delivered! The warmth effect of the DE-CL is about the same as the max warmth of the Opti-FET, when the DE-CL's knob is only at about 9 or 10:00. Turn it up to 12:00 and it's an overdrive with a unique tone. Turn it higher than noon and it becomes a really odd-sounding distortion. I don't think most people will ever want to use that sound, but OTOH I do think he made the right choice to let us have that range available.
