Can the new one have top mounted jacks? Pretty please?
That was the only thing I didn't like on the DBD.
I will look into it, but there really isnt any room for top mounted jacks with the control/PCB format that I have been using.

Im truly sorry for the wait. There will be a batch of the Dual-Band comps built after this batch of DE-CLs. The last several batches of compressors have had very little attrition, so we are not moving through the lists as quickly as we wanted.

The part about the make-up gain knobs switching from one to the other depending one whether or not the limiter is on made the whole concept make a lot more sense to me.
You've left me very curious about what this warmth knob sounds like at medium and high settings!

When the warmth circuit is turned up it sounds really weird from the 12:00 to 3:00 position it has a sound similar to a ringer (octave up distortion) past 3:00 it has a really odd burpy ringer tone. There is no clipping in the circuit, so it doesnt have the usual types of OD sounds. The warmth is created by asymmetrical amplification. You can think of the warmth control as a panning gain control in the output amplifier. As the warmth is increased the balance of the gain for the positive and negative portions of the signal are modified. The positive signal gain is progressively decreased as the negative signal gain is increased.
I totally agree with Cyrus that most people will use the warmth below the 12:00 position.

I would like to point out (and correct me if i'm wrong) that the limiter section on the DE CL can be used as a boost/'micro amp' as well...and that's really a nice feature for people playing bass solo's now and then.
It gives you that little boost to cut thru (when you need it).

You're right, since the limiter has its own independent gain control, it can be set higher or lower than the "normal" comp mode, so it can be used as a solo boost. Very handy.

Clean boost go for the MXR micro amp...but if you need a compressor with a bonus boost the DE CL has it...(it was a tip for people to decide between the opti fet or the dual engine)...

just got my DE-CL and started playing with it. The warmth definitely adds some overdrive past 12 o'clock. I'm liking the ratio around 10 oclock for some reasonable compression. attack almost at 12. Thresh hold seems a bit sensitive, really dependent on how much is coming in from the bass. it seems best around 2 o'clock right now.
Haven't really dove in hard to the limiter side, though love the idea of using it for some solo boost if need be.
Hopefully later i'll get a chance to load it into my pedal board and a/b it with the empress i currently use.
Anyone else have thoughts on setting up this unit?

Could someone post their thoughts on the "overdrive" tone of the warth control past 12 o'clock. A comparison to other overdirves would be useful. For example, does it sound like a pork loin with low or high overdrive?
