FEA fan club!

It has been mentioned earlier in this thread, but I just want to clarify again because we are getting a lot of email asking for pre-orders. We do not accept pre-orders; we do not allow an order to be placed until there is product ready to ship.

People can be placed on a notification list and they will be able to place an order when their name comes up. If you are not ready to order when your name comes up, you will be given an opportunity to stay on the list for the next batch. We have also had offers of money to move individuals to the top of the lists. Sorry, but we will not accept this offer to move your position on the list. However, if you are on a list and that product is discontinued, you will have the opportunity to be inserted into another list by the date of your original notification request.

Again, I want to thank everyone that is waiting for their outstanding patience. We are making progress, it has been slow, but it’s progress.

Thank you!

I'm sure you would like to take the money up front from time to time, but from a longevity standpoint, this is very smart.

I'd better say a few words, now that I finally got my hands on a shiney new DB-CL here in little ol England. I been pretty ill over xmas so whilst I had the pedal, I was too ill to play, but I have done so now.

Build quality:- is frigging awesome, this thing looks like Audi have built it, very nice.

Sound quality:- no buzzing, no humming, no hissing, even fully cranked, perfect.

Not had a lot of time to play with it as yet, but it has a lot of infuence on tone shaping, so lots of settings to try out here.

The main thing though, it does make my bass sound better and ain't that what's it about?, again very nice, very happy

If you not got one yet or your just sitting on the fence, get one.

I can say the same for the DE-CL. I can't think of another pedal currently being made (or ever) that I would say to anyone that the wait is worthwhile like this one. The quality of FEA gear is immaculate and the sound of the DE-CL is perfect for what it does. I really can't imagine myself replacing this pedal with anything else save for a different FEA comppressor.

I am on two of your notification lists and I am very happy to wait since your products are so highly praised.

I think that your notification system shows you know how to run your business. As a small business owner myself, I have to say that I am very disappointed in how a lot of small boutique builders run their operation so miserably and then complain about how they struggle and try to make it out to seem like you can't apply proper business practices in the music gear industry.

Really, congrats on being part of the good guys in this field. TB has introduced to plenty of people who will never see my money and also a bunch of little operations who will get my pre-orders/deposits/pre-paymants, etc.

Now, if my number could only come up on some notification lists ;)

Thanks! Everyone needs money, but taking it up front puts you in a very dangerous position. I have seen numerous talented builders severely damaged by not completing their pre-orders in a timely manner… some of them have a backlog of several years and refuse to refund their customers.

I can think of a few scenarios where pre-ordering/pre-paying would be necessary. Like with custom designs/services or a deposit from a dealer for a large quantity of product. Then you are committed to getting that order out in a timely manner.

Thanks Tankdave and JB for the great feedback!

Thanks! If you are on the Opti-FET list you may be notified soon. We are in the process of building 4 batches. Glen tells me that the 4 batches might cover everyone on the list.

I just wanted to chime in on this thread to add to Frank's sentiments and give a big shout-out to everyone on the notification lists. We get so many emails every week, and everyone is so patient and supportive that it's never a chore to read through them and answer them everyday. It amazes me that with the hundreds of people with which I've exchanged emails over the years, not a single one has been pushy, irritable, or otherwise unpleasant.

Our customers (and perspective customers) are absolutely the coolest people with which I've had the pleasure to correspond. Y'all ROCK!

It's simply because you guys do the few things that, we as consumers, think are the right things to do...

1. First, and foremost, you guys put out an OUTSTANDING product. It doesn't really matter how great your customer service is if your products are junk. FEA Labs is synonymous with fantastic products. If you look up QUALITY in the dictionary, you should see a pic of some FEA Labs stuff!

2. You communicate with your customers. Sure we all want our stuff yesterday, but if you are communicating with us and letting us know that production is catching up with demand, we can wait. You guys do a great job of letting us know what's up.

3. As was mentioned earlier, you guys don't take money for preorders. This forum is full of stories about builders who took TBer's money for builds and then never delivered any product. I'm no Wall Street wizard, but that's a pretty surefire way to end your business and your good name. I wanted an FEA Labs compressor, you guys said "that's cool, we'll let you know when it's ready, and then you can buy it if you want.". I waited. You guys sent me a message and said "We have one done for you if you still want it?". I sent you guys my money. You guys sent me a FAN-FRICKIN'-TASTIC compressor. Easy! If everybody ran their business like FEA Labs, We'd all have nothing to complain about!!

4. Did I mention the QUALITY of FEA Labs pedals?!

Bottom line-You guys are a great company that's putting out amazing products and keeping us in the loop. That is, indeed, worth waiting for.

I haven't updated my review yet, but I have in my hands the latest version of the DE-CL, and Frank has done an amazing job killing every last trace of noise in this pedal. To be clear, it was never noisy, but I still promoted his other pedals as being more "dead silent"; well now the DE-CL is dead silent too. In the good way!

Thanks Cyrus! This new low noise front end will also be used in the Photon Fuzz, the DBD replacement and all new pedal models.

I know you despise noise reduction circuits, but I have developed a really cool noise reduction circuit that just may get your nod of approval. It will be used in some future high gain dirt pedals.

I love my DE-CL but the slight noise has been a constant irritation in low noise environments. Is it possible to send these units back for a circuit upgrade?

If so, please put me on the list and let me know what I need to do.
Thanks,
Stephen

At this time there have only been a few DE-CL production proofs built. The design for the audio path has been greatly changed, so the previous version of the circuit board can not be modified.

We haven’t started the production PCB’s for this newer version yet. So I am unable to give you an estimate of what the costs would be to have your circuit replaced. When production begins I will have more information to work with.
