FEA fan club!

How do I know if mine got the latest noise cct., I do find it is quiet for an accessory, the quietest one I've ever owned.

All of the DE-CL’s have the same circuit at this time. There were only a couple of production proofs built with the new circuit. Cyrus (bongomania) is the only one that that has one of these new versions... the other two are here.

The production DE-CL’s with the new circuit will also have the new style faceplates.

I just noticed that you have a DB-CL. The only change to the DB-CL is that the upper end of the frequency range has been extended and it now has the new faceplates.

Frank, pleeeaase, re-release your dual band distortion... i'm in loving with its clipping. :hyper: :bawl:

Thanks! Our DBD won’t be re-released because the Toshiba FET’s that it used are no longer in production. Another company named Brimstone Audio has a similar pedal in production that you may be interested in.

thanks, frank.
are you planning release another effects, like octaver, chorus...? coming from you, they'd be awesome.

Thanks!

Like most other pedal companies, we would like to have a nice selection of effects. The primary goal at this point is to reduce the waiting list backlogs before releasing any new pedal designs.

Frank,

Any idea on when you plan on introducing the revision to the DE-CL?

I am on the waiting list for this unit (and a DB-CL) and I am curious if I will receive the revision, which would be preferable.. But, not a big deal if it doesn't happen.

All new DE-CL’s shipped from FEA will be the latest version. I have recently doubled the size of DE-CL batches that will be built this next round to cover most of the waiting list.

We are working on 4 batches of Opti-FET’s now and the DE-CL’s will be started immediately after those are completed.

Frank, why has the Smx been discontinued? The DB-CL will be, too?

The FEA SMX originally came about because of several requests to fill the void that the original Trace Elliot SMX made after it was discontinued. The TE and FEA SMX’s are very different circuits, so the only things that they have in common are the x-over frequency and the attack and release times for both bands.

We are starting to have more parts like circuit boards and faceplates manufactured by outside companies. To have these parts manufactured for us at a reasonable cost per part, I must order in fairly large quantities. Since these specific parts are exclusive to a particular model, they need to be viewed as investments. We are still a very small company that needs to make extremely wise choices as to where investments make the best sense.

The DB-CL is by far the more popular dual-band compressor model for us, so that is where the investments have been made. BTW, all of the SMX settings can be dialed in on the DB-CL.

The DB-CL will be manufactured for as long as we are in business. That's my first baby!:bassist:

excellent infos, frank.
as soon as possible, i'll get into your db-cl waiting list.
thanks.

I am fortunate to be the owner of first batch DE-CL. This pedal is a killer. The only remaining pedal in my gig.

I would like to share some comments in another point of view. I am an amp-less bass player. My bass goes directly to PhilJones bass buddy then a cheap headphone. My fender jazz sounds weird in the headphone. The bass is too boomy, crashing the headphone, getting distorted. The treble is too harsh, fret buzzy. Mid is lost. I could not solve it unless I put a DE-CL in front of it. It helps to balance the output to bass buddy. Bass is smooth, no hum. No fret buzz. Mid is getting front. The limiter makes your aggressive playing possible through the headphone. This pedal would be a must buy for ampless player or studio bassist.

I wish I could join the FEA club earlier. The discontinued Growler matches my need now but it is hard to get one. If someone wants to offload the Growler please contact me and I would pay for it with original price with shipping cost ! Or maybe Frank makes the rebuild batch. :)

I hope to see a dynamic/envelope filter in the future. With the versatility like DB-CL and DE-CL, the new filter will be a bomb in the market. Control the dynamic !

Just my 2 cents. Enjoy the life with FEA, folks.

Franks Pedals make just about any rig better.. for you being that the headphones are you cab essentially.. using all that gear with cheap headphones.. is fundamentally counter initiative.. I have an opti-fet & growler and it kills no matter what, but feel bad running it though any thing but studio mini rig..

Hey guys, the first of the four Opti-FET batches will be shipping by next Friday.

They have changed a little in appearance… the color is now dark grey and they have stainless steel, black-filled laser etched faceplates. They also have the latest aluminum custom knobs with the black filled pointer. There are no circuit changes.

My son Ryan will now be a full time FEA partner starting next Wednesday. So the production cycles will be much quicker than they have been. The other news is that we will not be outsourcing PCB assembly for the time being… the PCB’s will continue to be hand assembled in-house. Our friend Pat has done a great job of helping out with that last batch of outsourced Opti-FET PCB rework, so we will keep him busy with all of the PCB assembly.
