That combo of compressors is going to give you a wide range of compression possibilities.

How do you intend on using those two in your rack?

Well, I have a drawer/shelf in my rack that I use for pedals. So, right now, my setup is:

Bass > Board (which contains a Fairfield Accountant compressor) > Rack [Cali76tx > Verellen Meatsmoke Preamp > UA 6176 > PowerAmp]

the plan is to have the DE-CL and DB-Cl on the shelf along with the Cali76tx. I will maybe put one before, and one after the Meatsmoke. Eventually, I would like to get a bigger board and have at least one of your compressors on board, then one in the rack along with the Cali76.

Of course, the 6176's 1176LN is almost always on. So, I have a lot of compressors that I can turn on and off. When I do get a bigger board, who knows, I might be able to fit more than one on there in multiple places in my chain.

The 6176 is staying here forever man. It sounds so good. I want to use it with an audio technica mic I have to use as the audio source for Skype and Gotomeeting conference calls, it's THAT good :)

Seriously though, it's amazing. But, I am hoping that the FEA labs give even more possibilities. I also keep the 6176 at very low compression settings so I can use another one at the same time and get a super fat tone that sounds completely percussive. Oh, and, @DirtyDuke , you can set the compressor in the 6176 to a 1:1 ratio so that you don't really compress but you are still going through the audio transformers in it to add all the warmth that it adds (even better than the Cali76tx)... So, DB-CL or DE-CL into the 6176 at 1:1 might be an amazing best of both worlds experience... :)

The only downside is that rack is starting to be very expensive :)

Yep, mine too. Rack drawer has meat smoke, Cali 76, a fea DB cl and fea De cl. If it all fits that is

That's going to be a very interesting compressor setup. I hope your FEA's will make a nice addition to that collection.

Do you have a link for sound samples using them? I would like to hear what you are doing with all of those.

Oh I do. I have been comparing it to the 1176 and Cali76tx and it is VERY different but the warmth knob is a lot more subtle than I thought, making it a LOT more usable for me than I expected.

I definitely have to get a hang of the controls and make sure I set the gain properly. I love the fact that the limiter is there as well, very cool. I am really happy with it so far.

Okay, been rocking the DE-CL for a few nights out and a lot of face-time at home as well.

What an amazing little box this thing is, super clear but very powerful.

I can get some amazing sound out of this bad boy, a few fellow bassists came up to me and asked about the pedal right away.

A note on build quality:

I am an FAE for a electronic component distributor, I have seen some of the most perfect examples of caring workmanship ( It's art!) when it comes to PCB design and assembly. I often wondered why FEA never got into mass production of these pedals, when I opened it up to take a peek at it's design/assembly I figured it out right away.

Clean work. A perfectionist is at the helm of this company's design AND aseembly. ;)
