I've owned both. The 12/6 will go much lower and get at least as loud, given enough power. I strongly prefer having the tweeter, many others don't need it for their purposes.

I'm debating getting a LH500 or LH1000 to power two 15/6/1 cabs. I'll likely only ever run one, but would like to have enough headroom to power both just in case. This is my first step out of the combo amp territory and would like a little guidance.

Not sure of the SPL of the Schroeder, but here's a comparitive SPL chart for different fEARful variants.

If you want a lot of headroom with two 15/6/1 fEARfuls, consider being in the wattage range of 1200-1800 watts. Doesn't mean you need to use it because they get massively loud with a whole lot less.

Dang! First gig with my 15/6 and it sounds like the 6 is toast. I'm getting static and distortion instead of crystal clear tones out of the 6. It happend on the last few tunes of the night. I suppose the Walter Woods Ultra (800W @ 8 ohms) is not the best amp to use with the 15/6 (too much power?), although I only had the master at 5 or 6 and the channel vol at 4 - I always keep the channel volume under 12:00. As we know, the 15/6 is a 8 ohm box. I have a Carvin BX500 that might be a better head for this cab. I also use a BBE compressor for slap stuff for speaker protection and to even out the signal. I usually use a pair of 210 cabs with the Woods head and I've never blown them up. I bought the crossovers from Leland prewired.

Anybody had this kind of trouble before with the 6 yet? I used the 18Sound driver.

I'm putting 800 watts (Carvin BX1200) into my 15/6 and I could use more power still. No issues.

It's possible you might just have a bad solder joint/loose wire that worked itself loose while playing. A lot of vibration going on inside.

You'll probably have to open it up and test the mid without the crossover to be sure it's actually the driver itself.

Might be an easy fix, but a bummer anyway.

Sorry about the SPL I didn't thought that graph was the SPL level. So there is a difference of 4dB between the 12/6/1 and the 15/6/1. Is it worth it for the price for someone like me that will never play shows with more than 150 ppl without PA support? I would rather have a 12/6/1 at around 40lbs for less, but I'm interested in what you guys think.

The Schroeder angled baffle cabs and the fEARfuls are completely different monsters with different sounds. I own a 1212(r) and a 15/6, and they're really apples and oranges. Or apples and starfruit. Or apples and bowling balls. The fEARful is capable of so many different tones, so clean and loud, so much wider tonally than the 1212. I would also be willing to bet that you could dump a heck-load more useable wattage into a fEARful and remain clear and clean and wide than you could a Schroeder.

Yep. Without having the huge built in tone contour that the Schroeder has. The Schroeder is a very specific sound and a very specific tool. If you want to be well heard on a loud stage, it cuts...if you want to be big out in the room, or want tonal nuance, its not really the cab.

Way more bottom end, not even comparable. Sensitivity wise, probably not as high as the Schroeder, but able to get LOUDER than the Schroeder.

Invalid Link Removed - A sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power (watts) into volume (decibels). The higher the rating, the louder your speakers will play with a given amount of amplifier power. Sensitivity is often measured by driving a speaker with one watt and measuring the loudness in decibels at one meter.

So in essence what that means is the Schroeder will be louder than the fEARful when equal power is applied. However, the fEARful will handle more power than the Schroeder. So, with a sufficiently powerful amplifier, you can get a fEARful louder than the point at which a Schroeder will 'fart out'.
