I was playing with the SketchUp models on greenboy's website and came up with this.. The original box is unchanged as I just built on top of it, and I think with the inside of the bottom port slots and top "port" slots painted black, it wouldn't look odd from the audience.

1515+66, undo a few latches, flip the top, poof, 1001RB, or whatever you want. There's plenty of room for a 2U head and the ports are the same size on top and bottom of the cab. You'd also have room for cables or whatever.

Just an idea. More complex than just doing an airhead cab, but more stylish IMHO.

Awesome SketchUp is a fun program.

Another good amp for biamp possibilitys is the Invalid Link Removed
depending on load i think it can do 750watts per side or 1500watts Bridged. and they say its 2 ohm stable...so you could run alot of cabs with that. Has level controls and crossover freq too...not to bad for 549$

A good idea for the finish of your cab is to look at the original Invalid Link Removed

just plain old carpet..yuck...i like vinyl better

I finally finished this one up. Yeah, I made the mistake of reversing the baffle, so the tweeter is on the left (mid should be on the left), but I don't think this will be a problem. I bought the prewired crossovers and 18 Sound mid / ASD 1001 HF driver from Leland - already had bought the 3015LF a few months ago when they were still $179 ( I see that they are over $300 now @ US Speaker / $229 from Leland - not bad), but I got a great price when I bought mine! I hope the price comes down again.

I fired this thing up today with the Walter Woods Ultra and - WOW! Had to turn down from my usual levels. Now I know what Sundogue was talking about in his review a couple months ago. Massive lows, yet clear as hell in the mids. I can already tell that this will in fact be my "one cab solution" for all my gigs. I have an Lpad on the tweeter and tried turning it all the way down to hear just the mid driver - and I can see why some folks build without the tweeter = plenty of highs without it. BUT, I'm glad I built WITH the tweeter because I like it when it's set at about 2 or 3 - gives you a little sizzle for slap style. I have a gig on Saturday, so I can report back after that - the full "gig report."

I finished my 12/6, and since I have a 15/6 also, I tried them together with my 800RB - big difference from just the 15/6 alone. I don't think there will be any problem getting enough clear volume with the two at 300 watts/4 ohms. Sometimes there is insufficient headroom with only the 15/6 hooked up, but with both it sounded so full (and loud). My 15/6 is wired for use with either the internal crossover or a bi-amped signal (via my 800RB). For what it's worth, I think it sounds better with the Geenboy-designed crossover.

Unfortinatly I will be starting to get the parts ready for a 1515/66, after lending my 15/6 to another player, with awful results. Will be buying a new 3015lf and sending the other one to get reconed, unless I find out that I can do it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. But with the bad result of lending gear, I get the new project of building a 1515/66. I probably should be more upset about the blown speaker, but building these cabs are way too much fun.

I went to the bathroom and he cranked the volume, clipping the bridged crown xls 1500, so either too much power, or not enough clean power. I'm thinkin it was from pushing the amp too hard. There was a lot of beer involved too, that might have been step 1 in the process of breaking equipment.

Lesson learned, now on to the 1515/66 that I'm not gonna let anyone ever use, or even touch. I've learned that lettin people borrow stuff gets expensive. I should have been there to stop the madness of eq'ing all bass instead of doin whatever I was doin.

I'd say your "buddy" just bought a 3015LF that he needs to have repaired so he can use it in his own fEarful project. Take it out, give it to him and charge him whatever you paid for it.

That won't cover the price of a new one, but you are perfectly within your rights to push the "you broke it, you bought it rule." He's got a lesson to learn too.

I took the speaker out today, and it definately has something wrong with it. Before I send it away to get reconed, I wanna make sure I know what is wrong with it first.

When I look at the speaker, there is no tears or any cosmetic damage. But when I tested it a little bit of sound would come out, but it would just pop. Also, when I tested the speaker with a 9v battery, it would also pop when it moved.

I'm pretty new to this stuff, and don't know whether it would be worth it to have the speaker reconed, or if it has too much damage done to it already. Any help would be appreciated.

And yes, I should have stuck the other guy with the bill, but I'm gonna try and work out a deal with the band's management, to get me a few tickets to their CD release party at the House of Blues in July, as part of a payment. If I can get it reconed, parts express will do it for $75.

I have a quick question. I can't seem to find the SPL level of the 12/6/1 and the 15/6/1. I'd like to know how the 12/6/1 would compare to my current Schroeder 1210L volume wise? I really like my Schroeder, but even though it is already very portable, I am looking for the ultimate portable cab. If the 12/6/1 would be as loud as the Schroeder 1210L, I would never need another cab. Is the tweeter necessary to get the full clarity?
