Yeah. I stopped using the LMII because of the distortion/breakup in the mids. Used a different amp, no problems.

Hey Mikeddd,
I was wondering what you plan on doing grill wise on your cab. I plan on using a metal grill from reliable hardware but not sure how I want to stand it off. I know some have the wood around the edges and others use stand offs.

What are you other guys using to isolate your grill? I'm trying to get my plans in order.

Wow. Really?

Just curious, do you tune your bass with a laser tension meter, or evaluate the spacing and angle of your string winding with an electron microscope?

I kid. If I still had a scope, I would probably be tempted to go hook my preamp to it right now.

Bardley: I bought a grill kit from Leland. It has round openings and is 62% open. I honestly prefer the diamond pattern grills, but this grill is very sturdy and I knew buying it from Leland that it would fit. I did not want to mess with the wood edging as spec'd in the original fEARful plans. Leland sells the grill as a kit and it comes with the grill itself (painted black) seven rubber feet and the screws to hold it on. IIRC, it's a little cheaper than the Reliable Hardware grill. That may or may not matter to you. The price wasn't the main point for me; the ease of ordering was. No measuring/filling out forms/hoping it fits...didn't want to mess with that.

I'd advise looking at the many builds and deciding yourself (are you on the fEARful forum too?). Or even coming up with a way that you haven't seen yet. I can think of a couple that I haven't seen yet, actually, but I'll leave that alone so others can enjoy the process of discovery ; }

You're welcome. As far as I know, the grill isn't on his website (I may have missed it though). He let me know about it when I asked the question. For me, it was much easier to order from one source. I wanted a truly complete kit. I got everything from Leland down to the Duratex.

I plan on joining the forum. Just haven't gotten around to it. Think I might head over there in a few.

I've seen many ways of doing the grill. Some I like, some I don't. I just want something that is effective at protection, but still looks good.

Maybe I'll try this... ;) :D

I'm not sure there are any outisde of PetScreen or similar geo-grids/woven, and I don't know that I'd trust a sheet plastic grill to be as protective per weight unit as a metal grill given how many shattered plastic parts I've found in car parts, or just about anything else that's been under-engineered.

I'm sure its possible to do a composites/plastics grill that's pretty great based on PetScreen's properties. Which by the way really does keep Bowser or Thomasina from ruining the patio door ; }

Peavey IPR 1600 or 3000. 2 rack spaces, but 7 pounds. Good input sensitivity. And easy on the wallet.

Or look a the Crown Drivecore amps. Same deal, light and powerful.
