Guess this would be a question for someone like Robby Hoinsky. I've got Bowser & the Thomasinas under control (or they me, as it were); more interested in keeping unnamed critters (mice, snakes) from entering the pearly gates of fEARful-land.
I went with a Crown XLS1500. Great input sensitivity, 300wpc@8ohms, 550wpc@4ohms, whisper-quiet fan and it's mono bridgeable out of the box. Also very light. I think it's 10 pounds. Both the Crown XLS and the Peavey IPR series get a lot of love on this board and with good reason; they are both full featured, lightweight amps that work well with bass pres.

It really is a question directed to companies that have deeper plastics/composites manufacturing facilities. But I'm relatively sure the answer isn't cost-effective.
Just staple some window screen to the back of the port opening? Might be a quick, easy, and cheap solution.

Bass lines like a big, funky giant
+1 on the Crown XLS Drivecore amps. I love the XLS1500 in my PA rig so much that I just bought another one to replace my venerable, high-reliability, weighs-a-ton Crown CE1000 in my fEARful Combo of Doom. Tonight I install the crossovers and drivers, and then I break in the system and I'm done! It's a 15/6 with a 3-space airhead incorporated to hold my Crown XLS1500 and Ampeg SVP-PRO.
Yes, I suppose that could work. Although the idea does not completely wall off the hiding cave. I'd prefer blocking the port's front entrance.
Reminds me of how I installed a wire mesh across the bottom of a raised garden bed. Anti-gopher protection. Always something trying to get at your stuff here in the country.
I use a 1500 (screwed into rails on my pedalboardworks pretty darned well.

I used a Rondo big ass pedalboard as the basis.
Some things I'd do differently but it works pretty well. I plug in the power strip on the board and the speakon cable to the cab and bass to the tuner.
Sweet! Totally self-contained! I dig it. How is the amp mounted? Industrial strength Velcro? n/m Now I see the wood "uprights" you mounted to the pedalboard. Very ingenious!
BTW: I also run a SupaCharger in my board. I think it's a very underrated power supply and not a lot of people use it. Very happy with mine.

Yep, what I did was use finishing washers and some long sheet metal screws through sections of 3/4" birch plywood, and mounted rack rails on them.
The supacharger is great. Very very very flexible. Affordable too.

What I do is have my bx1500 mounted in my gator 2u rack bag and then in the bag's large outer pocket I have a tuner and VT Bass mounted onto a piece of plexiglass which is screwed into the top of the rack (inside the pocket). Works well for me and is nicely self-contained, but probably not as cool looking as yours.

My next project will probably be building a 2u rack with the top being a pedalboard. Pretty sure I can get the size down a lot.
Down side to mine is it weighs ~40lbs and is the length of a guitar case. Pretty big.
But, it was a fun learning experience building for sure
It's good that you've got the BX1500. I don't find the VT very usable without another layer of semi-parametric mid range - just washes out in the mix. If the VT deluxe had a fourth midrange control centered around 200-250hz you would have to pry it from my cold dead hands.
Great work, man. If I ever get the courage to build my own, it's good to know there are so many excellent resources available. I might try and tackle a sub to go with the 15/6/1/ that I'm having built.

Angled cuts for the mid chamber done
Holes drilled in the port dividers
Hopefully my cousin will call me tomorrow so I can use his table saw equipped with dado blade to make the notches in all the bracing.
It's going to be a little while till I start rolling on the duratex, but so far so good ... and having SO much fun woodworking again.

Yeah, one thing I would consider regarding the VT Deluxe that I bought from you is adding a 160hz knob via Putnam. Thats if I was going the power amp route. But for the extra 3LBS of the BX1500 (vs 7LBS of the IPR 1600) I get a full featured DI and lots of control with the extensive eq it offers. However, I have run the VT Bass with just a poweramp for about a dozen gigs and it worked quite well for my 3 piece roots rock band. That said, my last gig my rig sounded *really* good... warm, round, clean, fat yet punchy. I'm super happy with the VT and BX1500... that's why I stepped up to the VT Deluxe. My amp buying days are over.lol, it looks a lot less sharp in person I think.
