Fearful / Greenboy 15x6 Cabs in 2026?

Best sounding cabs I ever played through were two Fearful 15x6s (no tweeter) that I built myself.

Had to sell them when relocating a few years ago, but now I find myself in need of cabs again.

- Any "off the shelf" cabs I can buy in 2026 that meet or exceed a D.I.Y. 15x6? Accugroove or Barefaced, etc...?

- Can I even get drivers and crossovers for the Fearful designs anymore? Does Leland at SpeakerHardware.com still sell flatpack kits and crossovers?

- Any authorized Greenboy / Fearful builders (or comparable) in the Great Pacific Northwest? I've found some decent cabinet builders, but I'd still need to source the drivers and crossovers.

I checked recently and SpeakerHardware still sells the kits. Go for it! Oh, and they are known as 156s. 15x6 sounds like 6 15 inch speakers!

Phil Jones used to make ridiculously large cabinets. Looks like this is the largest they make anymore. Still… 9 5in speakers is pretty nuts.

No no... the Fearful 15/6 is a 15" woofer and 6" midrange driver (and optional tweeter)

15/6 is correct
15x6 (or 6x15) is a joke / typo.

Nope, they’ve always been referred to as 15/6, I still have the original plans.

I actually have an empty 15/6 cab that was put together by another TBer, as well as a Kappalite 3015LF. And I live near Seattle, so I might be able to help you out.

I built 2 15Subs, but bolted together as a 215. Kustom clone head, 3u. Peavey mixer as a pre, Peavey power amp. Massive sound. BEAD bass, Geddy.

Yes and yes.

Don Oatman at LDS (Low Down Sound) was never an authorized builder but he can build you something very similar. His prices are very reasonable and he's a nice guy. His cabs are great. I believe he's in Oregon but I could be mistaken. His website hasn't been updated in forever so it's best just to contact him directly to discuss what he can offer.

I believe Don Oatman is in Buckley, WA, based on some Reverb listings which appear to be him. Not sure if he is building, the vibe I got was he was selling off stuff and maybe done with new production, but I could have misinterpreted.

I'm afraid I'm going to build (or have built) Fearfuls again. Old habits die hard.

But now I have questions about comb filtering and mirrored baffles in another thread.

Yeah everything is still available. I just built a 151566 but I'm using an active crossover and biamping. The passive crossovers don't seem that hard to build. It can be hard to find parts with adequately high power handling but AFAIK it's just a 2nd order LR filter at 850hz.

Welcome to my 151566 build log! A few months ago I posted on TalkBass asking for help with some bass volume problems with my metal band and the community here recommended the fEARful 151566. I'm handy with fabrication and I love a custom project so I decided to take it on. Please find below a log of my build!

Background and Research
I started by researching the design and past build discussions. I read all about the speakers, frequency response, power handling, crossovers, materials, glue, bracing etc. It seems that there used to be a Greenboy forum at some point which was loaded...

If you’re going to build two and are concerned it is recommended that if you're going to stack them that you build a mirror image which places the woofer at the top and the mids stacked together. Have you ever thought of building a fEARful 15/6 3-way and stack it on a fEARful sub?
i had two fEARful F112s and mids/highs were too much so I sold one of my F112s and built 12” sub only and stack my F112 on it. It sounds massive and covers everything I do and more.
You can do the same thing with the fEARful 15/6 3-way and a 15” sub.
