Well I added the extra bracing. I probably should add another pic so you can see the brace that runs along the top that goes from the back of the mid chamber to the back of the cab. I'll tell ya that PL is some awesome stuff.

Nice work, Walt.

Your pictures tell the story wonderfully. The bracing methods that Greenboy came up with are sound from an engineering perspective. To see a well documented build like yours ought to bring clarity to others on how to implement those concepts.

Thanks Jim. Now I just have to save up for the two 3015LF drivers I need to complete both my 15/6s. By the way my name is Wade. No biggie I have been called a lot worse than that :)

I'm building a 12/sub to go with my 12/6. I see the 12/sub plans call for a choice of extension shelf lengths. I think 11 to 13 inches. I would like it to behave the same as my 12/6. Anyone know what lenght I should make the shelf to achieve that? Just need to sand and paint the 12/6 this week-end. All my parts should be here next week. Thanks for any input.

Don't worry about it. No big deal.

PL is some real strong stuff. I used it like caulk inside the cab and used my finger to smooth it out. I used disposable rubber gloves.

Leave the shelf the shorter of the two lengths...The longer one is the 'modified' length. The longer gives you a bit more low end extension, but takes away a little volume in the low/low mid area.

Just to give you a little more info, Here's a nice graphic of what the extension does in a 15/6 cab:

Now keep in mind that this is the 15/6 instead of the 12/6, but the overall effect should be very similar, as both cabs are designed to present the same tonal profile.

No, I'm not. I should clarify something too. The EQ knobs on the bass do not have detents. Typically, center is flat, and then you can boost or cut. This thing doesn't have any indication of where you're going. Either I don't know where center is, or full counterclockwise is flat, or full clockwise is flat. Is there any way to tell?

I suppose you have to have some frequency analyzer. One way or the next - If there is boost involved, I'd be backing of the pre in the bass. I'm not a big fan of on-board preamps though so my advice may be irrelevant...

End of the month for flat packs. The prototype 12/6 cube is done, 15/6 starts today. Flat packs will be derived after I get 3 or 4 cabs under my belt. Xovers will also be a few more days before they ship. I started on rpsands xovers last night, and discovered the boards I have for the midrange won't hold the components. I'd forgotten how big those 25w resistors are. I already had bigger boards on the way, I'd ordered them for another project. They should be here Monday or Tuesday.

Put a crossover together - it is a Greenboy 12/6 CBG for Eminence 6.

What I did was route a path for the bus wire on the flip side. I used a tool made by Dremel - the Rotozip. I intentionally did it freeform (and sloppy) that holds the wire in place. I used Formvar coated wire simply because I had it laying around in my shop.

The stuff holding down the crossover components is waxed string. I like that better than tywraps, the string doesn't get brittle and fail over time.

The end result is a crossover that is mechanically rigid, and won't need any standoffs.

If I built one of these for someone else, it would be much much neater.
