+1 to looking at shipping options from Erse. I believe switching from ups or fedex to usps brought it down from > 30% of the cost of the order to < 25%.

Re: bending or breaking the edges of a grill & standoffs- breaking the edges makes it stiffer & I assume the standoffs would isolate it a bit more. This is what I'm thinking of doing.

My limited sheet metal knowledge and experience suggest otherwise, i.e. there would be some increase in stiffness in the center of the panel, but I don't know how much with perforated/epanded material or suggest it is worth the added cost/effort for any added rigidity. From my standpoint, the benefits are mostly cosmetic and the mounting possibilities. I should have said so in the first place.

How many people have added extra bracing to their 15/6? I am just about ready to start with damping material and if I was going to add bracing now would be the time before I close up the back.

I am going to add some bracing to the top of mine soon, but it's a little non-standard and does not have the added stiffness that the midrange chamber provides (since it has a cup midrange enclosure).

Might just do the wooden back for the midrange while I'm in there:P

that said: the shuttle 9 has really, really crappy cheap feet. Worst part of the amp !:P

I'd probably add a runner front to back if my box were open. Or even a cross made of two notched pieces. Doesn't need to even be 1.5" material, and it doesn't need to reach all the way in each direction. But if it does go all the way to panels make sure to glue there so the panel doesn't buzz against it.

Not an issue, but on the other hand a few ounces matters not at all to me, and it'd be nice when my IPR4500 comes in.

4500 eh? What have you heard? That was my first choice but I don't think any have shipped. I was also worried a bit that it might draw too much and I'd have trouble in places with less than 'pro' power settings.

Well I added some extra bracing. I'll post pics when I can pull the clamps.

I don't know how most everyone applies their PL. Instead of using a tool to filet the joints I went and got disposable surgical gloves and use my finger to filet. It's also nice to be able to use my fingers where I can't get a caulking gun.

Yeee Haa!

Got my shop all cleaned up, scrawled up a hand made cut list for the big parts and stocked the larder. Enough beer to float the sixth fleet (that's for the sanding and filling stages.) Got the wood in the shop. Table saw, router and the shop AM radio are all situation green. Good to go.

Got a blizzard aimed in my general direction.

I feel like Calvin waiting on a snow day!

Right on, Interceptor.

That blizzard's going to miss me to the south, but we had snow yestiddy & I should be plowing right now.

I'm hoping to log some saw-time later this week at my brother's boss' shop. Would of done it on my own if I knew the wait would be this long, but they're set up with a pretty fancy/large tablesaw, & a project with family is the essence of quality time.

Measure thrice, cut once, drink beer last.
