Fearful thread part 15 (/6?)

Oh yes- the particulars.
My bad. And thank you for asking.:)
Custom build for a player in WA.
Drivers are Faital 15PR400's (other option is Eminence 3015)
Tilt-back handle, caster and skid rails.

I was really impressed with the Faitals. I really wish I could have spent more time with it, but I told the customer I would do everything I could to get it to him in time for a show this weekend. Mission accomplished. Hopefully I'll get some feedback early next week.

Does that cover it?

I gotta get a pic on here too . I saw the question about standoffs a little late to get it in the last fEARful thread but on my 15/6 and 15 sub with the grills from Don at barry audio (thanks again) I used 3/8 heater hose and it works great , no rattles at all . It's stiff enough to hold the grill firmly but flexible enough to damp vibrations very well when cut short . Can be had at any car parts store for a couple bucks a foot .

Oh snap! I though AoN was back on the approved list in fairly recent history. Bummer.

As for the stand-offs and rattling discussed in the previous incarnation of this thread, Mike Arnopol and I had some chatter about that since I got one of his cabs with bugeye grilles. The one on my 15 shakes when I play a low/open A. This is due to the 4 clamp spots holding solid and the space between each one moving a bit. The solution (as yet unimplemented) is to add some insulation padding beneath the rim of the grille. it is a minor bit of rattle, mostly noticeable at lower volumes, when it can be heard over the speaker output. Not a construction flaw, just minor tweak needed to make it more perfect :)

Art Of Noise's website is still saying they are a FEarful builder and that is the part that worry's me if you are planing on spending money on having something built.
Here is a company that is advertising that they are a authorized builder of Greenboy's design and they are not even on Greenboy's authorized List.
Here is an example about 5 years ago I was going to have a very reputable person restore my 1983 4001 Rickenbacker, well I sent it to him and he had it for a year and I kept on trying to contact him on what was taking so long and when he finally got back to me he sent my bass back and it wasn't even restored and he actually damaged it by putting little tiny clamp marks on the side of the neck, I was DEVASTATED so I had to send it to another gentleman up in San Francisco for the full restoration and to fix the problem the other A$$#@!E did.
And as far as speaker cabinets go there was one time I almost was going to have a 115 cabinet built by Ear Candy and they where suppose to be a very reputable company and they turned out to rip a whole lot of people off.
So I guess my main concern is who is the most reputable Authorized person to go with as far as having somebody build me a 15/6 bass cabinet.
I've seen some AWESOME examples here on Talkbass but I want to know who is the most reliable and not to mentioned who is the best of the best at building the KILLER 15/6 cabinet for me.
I'm not trying to sound so paranoid but I have been screwed so bad in the past I tend to only trust certain company's like Bergantino, I have owned 2 HS410 and now I have 1 HS410 and Jim Bergantino cabinets I love and have never had a problem with them ever.
I'd really like to get a Bergantino HT115 but can't find one so I thought I would check on a 15/6 cabinet, I just want to know who is the best builder to go with and not get jerked around.

I'll send you a PM in a bit, but I would like to say the AoN thing is very sad for all of us...Robby seems like a great guy who just got in over his head...And in this line of work, Customer Service is king. Many of the Authorized Builders are friends of mine now and I can say with zero reservations that any of these guys will do an amazing job for you.

I might as well throw in the Grey Ghost. She is a 1515/66 AKA "66" that I got from Leland at www.speakerhardware.com . It was the first flat pack "66" built and sold by SH. Piece of cake to build and saved me some cash. Best money I ever spend in my rig. Now I need to invest 10x as much in lessons.

Wooooof. The Grey Ghost is so fine.

And gwangi, after spending some time of the fEARful forum, seeing ALL of the authorized builders post there and help out DiYers, and seing how AoN got dropped once customer service poved to be not good, I would feel comfortable buying from any of them. But I bought flat packs from speakerhardware.com and built mine. So I have no experience with any of them.

Toss Dave Homer (Gigmaster Soundworks) on that list as well. He built my cab. I went to his house/shop to pick it up. Right now he is coming up on vacation time from his day job so if anyone has an order his production time should be crazy fast.

dukeorock spend a good 30 minutes over a few dropped calls (on my part) to answer one question and then it turned into a session of shooting the breeze. Awesome guy. If I ever need one built, Mark @ BNA Audio will be building it. I know the other builders build amazing pieces of audio art as well, but he has helped me and offered to help me further and he is closest to me.
