The ones from Reliable Hardware, that you cut to length, will compress quite a bit when you screw them down.

I bet some black rubber washers would help lengthen standoffs, if needed.

I was one of the guys that got Royally Screwed by AoN. In a nut shell, it was 5 months and counting to build me a new cab and I basically just gave up. His communications skills were quite poor as I was always initiating emails for updates (every two weeks or so) and oftentimes did not get a response til the 2nd or 3rd email. I'm sure Robby is a nice guy, but customer satisfaction goes beyond being just nice. Anyway, there is alot more to the story, but that's the jist of it. PM for more details if you like.

As to who to choose in terms of an Authorized Builder, I recommend checking out the fEARful forum. See who is active, seems like a nice, helpful guy and who lives closest to you. The list DudeOrock made above looks great to me, but I would have confidence in any of them. Greenboy doesnt mess around, and if one of the ABs dont hold up to his standards they will get their AB status yanked (like AoN) and will lose $$$. On the fEARful facebook page there is also alot of cab pics posted by various AB's and that enables you to check out the quality of their work as well.

I say give Greenboy his props for looking out for customers and making fEARful something we can rely on. There's too little of that out there and too many excuses and apologies for repeated mistreatment of buyers, especially of things musical. His approach makes fEARful stand out in a crowded field.

Reliable has a $20 minimum order, the speaker mount kit is only $7.50. I couldn't find anything else on there that I really wanted to buy.

No reason I couldn't spray paint the white ones, right? But do those attach just to the grill, or to both the grill and the baffle? Am I being too chicken about sinking a few extra screws into the baffle?

wise guy! I am going to go to the automotive store, tomorrow if they're open, or on Saturday, and see if I can figure something out with the radiator hose.

Practiced in the basement tonight with the fEARful, shedding tunes for pick up gig this weekend, and man did it sound good! I think I'm going to get along just fine without a tweeter. Tomorrow afternoon is our rehearsal for this show, can't wait to hear it with a kit. At my normal practice volume grill rattling was not an issue. We'll see how it goes at the slightly louder rehearsal volume tomorrow. (fingers crossed)

My 15/6 has the standard edge mount standoffs, and none of the center-grill standoffs and never has caused a problem.

That's how mine was....but Holmes mentioned "Dub sound" at some point when I was talking with him and I was like...."dang...I bet that would add a TON of low end shake that I never tested it at.

I've never made the grill rattle on my 15/6/1 but it shakes a lot if I slap it......not that I'd be slapping my cab midset.....just that I think I'll add the standoffs just in case......

Really , just get some 3/8" heater hose and cut it to length . Its already the right color to blend in , no painting , and is tougher than you would think . 3/8" might sound small but that is the inside diameter , the outside is more like 3/4" . Way cheaper than the rubber feet standoffs or reliable hardware kits . Just add some #10 by 2" sheet metal screws and you are done . Yes , screw the grill to the baffle through the standoffs too .

Thank you Blues Bass 2! So it's not radiator hose, but heater hose, still at the automotive supply store, correct? And thanks for the info on mounting the screws into the baffle. Should I drill a small pilot hole to start the screw?

LOL, at first I thought you meant you were slapping the bass- but you mean you're slapping the cabinet itself!

I was running at a high volume when I got the grill to rattle. It may not be an issue at actual volume I play most gigs at. But later this summer I'll play some bigger stages where I might turn it up more - and that's the last place I want to find that I am getting the grill to rattle. I'd rather be proactive and make sure the cabinet is solid.

We did our annual city wide 4th of July gig in Bettendorf Iowa today . It was 100 degrees but we had a breeze so none of us passed out from the heat . Went great , one of our guitar players 14 year old daugter sat in for her first big stage gig playing bass , she did very well and looked cute too . This was my second gig with the fEARful stack and it didn't disapoint , great great tone and low end , I love it . Here's a couple of before the gig pics .

Holmebass . Yes , drill a small pilot hole first . Then you can either paint the head of the sheet metal screw or use a black marker to make it match the grill .

I have 2 sets of the reliable hardware standoff kits I'd be happy to let go for what they cost. I ended up using my own design, and I've wondered what i should do with them.

Yessirr Sir When I built my 1515/66 recently I went for Industrial Strength, not weight reduction and my expanded metal steel grille has a variety of standoff treatments as I built it for worst case scenario destructo action. If you build it DIY your left over 1/2 inch ply works well in the perimeter and just about anything works in the field for baseball bat resistant standoff. Use your imagination as long as you cut to proper width/thickness. A little foam tape insulation on top of the rigid materials is cheap insurance.

As someone who grew up in an auto parts store, please ask for 3/8 fuel line. Some of these Advanced Idiots will look at you like you have two heads and tell you there is no such thing as a 3/8 heater hose. I would go with 5/16 personally.
