Fearless cabs Whats the Hype??

I haven't had the opportunity to try them. I don't think they are "unique". LDS, BFM, Bareface, Acme, EA, et al have similar sound goals, each with slightly different designs.

BUT the idea is that with these designs you'll hear nuances in your bass sound that you never knew existed.

I'm passing along what I've read. Owners of these cabinets can speak with more authority. I've also read that they're not for everybody. Nothing is - right?

First, as a disclaimer, I build and sell Fearless Cabs.
To the original poster's question, they are a full range cabinet that is more compact than most, with higher than average power handling and SPL capability. Being a 3way cabinet, they also have better off axis performance than the typical "one way" bass cab.
As an earlier post mentioned there are other cabs aiming for the same goals, it would be in your best interest to try some out and make your own judgment, rather than to rely on someone else's, as it's all very subjective.

If interested, there are bunches of threads, reviews, counter-threads, counter reviews here. And by "here" we mean Talkbass.

Just look up Greenboy , Fearless (made by authorized dealers only), and Fearful (the DIY based on free plans from Greenboy).

You question is a good one. However, expecting a good answer just in this thread is similar to posting the question: "P-bass, whats the hype?" and expecting one universal, easy, succinct answer.

Has anyone see a comparison between Fearless cabs and Barefaced cabs?

I dumped my Fearless/Fearful 15 for Barefaced. I had a nightmare experience with my fearful build (by a former authorized builder) which ended up becoming a fearless that also was a failure. It was not the typical experience so I'm not a fair example. That said, the cabs worked well enough for a while that I can compare/contrast.

The Barefaced Super Compact is a 12" cab so it is smaller by quite a bit and also lighter by quite a bit. It's much easier to haul (I had a composite fearful). The SC doesn't have a mid driver or tweeter so the top end isn't as bright. At first I thought the sound was a bit honky and congested, but it broke in and opened up and ended up being quite nice. It's fuller, rounder sounding than the the Greenboy cabs, which seem a touch scooped in comparison. Both claim flat response, so somebody has a busted ruler, or it is an aural illusion because of the lack of mid/tweet on the Barefaced I have. I think a better comparison would be one if the models with a compression driver for the highs.

The SC is loud as hell and can cover the same jams I did with the Greenboy 15 cabs. I'm not saying they have identical output, but that for my jams, I haven't found the 12" to be at a noticeable disadvantage compared to the 15" cabs I had (never ran them side by side).

I wasn't convinced I'd made the right choice when I first got the Barefaced cab, but I've grown to be a big fan. I ended up purchasing a second cab, a Super Midget. The two cabs together pair well, extend the top end a bit (tweeter on the SM) and get beyond loud for my needs in a drum/key/guitar/bass/vox rock setting.

I too am about to take a Barefaced leap after using Fearless and other Greenboy designed cabs for years. Up to this point the Fearless cabs are my all time favorite cabs.

As previously mentioned, they have similar goals: achieving clear tone with high output in compact designs. Fearless cabs achieve it by using 3-way cabs that are designed around high quality stock drivers and custom crossovers. The latest Barefaced cabs are 1-way or 2-way cabs that are designed around high quality custom drivers and crossovers.
