Fearless cabs Whats the Hype??

I've drank the Kool-aid a few years ago and I'm biased. I love fEARfull and fEARless cabs. They were everything I wanted. I don't particuliar have a hi-fi tone either but I can get whatever sound I want out of them them. They are loud, clear and punchy.

I've owned Ampeg, Trace Elliot, Hartke, SWR, AccuGroove, ACME and Schroeder. I've like things about all of them but the ACME was an eye opener but I felt I couldn't get loud enough sometimes, the FEARFUL (FOR ME) solved that.

Bottom Line is I love them and I do recommend anyone curious should go play through one, that's absolutely the only way you'll know if it's for YOU. I own a 1515/66/1.

Until I played Dave's cabs the true limitation in headroom for me what 'what my cabs can take' before they distorted or got ugly sounding. That's not an issue anymore. Tonally they may or may not be your thing, but in my mind they:

-Can go louder and stay true to tone and clean than most other cabs, even ones that are bigger.
-Clean clear tone that comes closer to representing what your bass and amp sound like than anything I've heard.
-Wider more even response than most if not all cabs, including the deep lows.
-Off axis response combined with clarity makes them fantastic and some of the most 'hearable' on stage.
-Light and ergonomically designed. My 'big cab' is in the 50 pound range. My sub is in the 30's. Handle placement and shape makes them easy to move and load.
-Their sound is so coherent in the room that sound engineers don't mind volume. In some rooms my rig has sounded better than the FOH bass support (as admitted by the engineer) and I've carried the room by choice rather than need. They're basically a PA setup for bass for either stage or room support.
-I feel like they're cost effective. They're not 'cheap' but what you get for your dollars is so much.

*I've been gigging with Greenboy cabs since Dave was first designing the original fEARfuls. My background: I'm not a 'basement' player. In fact all my home practice time is headphone amp. I ONLY hear my fEARfuls in a band setting and have done so in a variety of venues from small (100ppl) rooms with no PA support to clubs, theaters and festivals. I'm semi-pro, with a single band, not an occasional weekender and probably have about 40-50 or so gigs in this year. I've been gigging steadily for the past 3 decades.

First, as a disclaimer, I build and sell Fearless Cabs.
To the original poster's question, they are a full range cabinet that is more compact than most, with higher than average power handling and SPL capability. Being a 3way cabinet, they also have better off axis performance than the typical "one way" bass cab.
As an earlier post mentioned there are other cabs aiming for the same goals, it would be in your best interest to try some out and make your own judgment, rather than to rely on someone else's, as it's all very subjective.

Having received my Fearless F112 from Scabbey Road, might I chime in by saying: 1. It's loud as hell - don't need to schlep a 4-10 around any more; 2. It's incredibly ar-ti-cu-late (so if you make a lot of clams you may not like it); 3. Whether I'm using a Lakland, or Warrior, or whatever, what you put into that cabinet is what you get out. Very un-colored; 4. I also run a Takamine TB10 through it and I defy anyone to close their eyes and tell me I'm not playing an upright.

I love it when people say "try it." Sure, this thing that only exists on TB, that is hand built and very expensive is easy enough to find to try out. It's like saying "You should ride a Pegasuses, so much easier than driving. Try one out."
Yeah, I hear you. It's a big leap of faith just ordering something (somewhat expensive) without trying it out first. Not sure who builds these things in Cali; my advice would be to locate a builder near you and see if any builds remain in the shop long enough for you to try one. I did not have that opportunity, so I had to make the "leap of faith". It worked out great, but ...

Closest builder is in AZ. $1k on a lark is a little more than faith. My GK is super light, but the idea of some cabs that will finally put my guitarists in their place is attractive.
I'm sure they are great, its just a really odd thing people do on TB.
Q:"What does x sound like." or "Is x any good."
A:"Try one."
Response: "No $#!* Sherlock! If that was a @$&*ing option don't you think I'd be out at a magical store that has every piece of bass equipment ever made rather than screwing around on a forum!"

It just boggles my mind.

If you really want to know, go find one and try it out. There are some things you can't learn over the internet. You can read specs and opinions all day long, but you have to listen for yourself if you really want to know.
Your right about that, just like buying a bass, trying it out for yourself is better,I was just curious about the enclosures and why their expensive...

Where in Arizona? I'm in Arizona

Don't you have GTG's in Cal?
Go to a GTG or read through some of the threads about them and when you see someone post that they have one and they live somewhat close to you PM them and ask if you can try it.
It really isn't that hard. If I can try out a bunch of them living in Minnesota you shouldn't have a problem in Cal.

It doesn't exist 'only on TB'. Here in our little city there are 4 or 5 different cab models floating around. There are players all around the country and globe now. Is it a household name? No. But they're not mythological either. Production models have been shown and demo'ed at national trade shows for years.

They're no more expensive than any other high end cab options, they're just not as cheap as any of the mass-production boxes that have been churned out.

I got word that a guy downstate (NYC) was visiting family and would love to try some out. Within a couple days he had played my two fEARfuls, another 12cube, and fearless 12" .

Don't know. What's a GTG?

If the Greenboy website is accurate Joseph Hawley in Mesa is an authorized builder.

JHawk still lists it on his facebook profile.

There are also 14 owners showing on the Greenboy map online. If you're really interested, you might try the Greenboy Audio facebook group or message board and ask if there's anyone in your area who can let you try theirs.

I don't want to derail the thread, but 80% of what is mentioned on TB will never been seen in the wild; either in stores or on stage. My 2x112 GKs stacked vertically with a Genz Benz Shuttle is pretty exotic based on what I've seen at shows over the last 3 years. GK, Ampeg, and Markbass; that's it. typical 410s, 115, or 810 configs.
Most people stare at my Laklands or Pedulla like they are from Mars. Dingwall, Rosecoe, Wal, Sandberg? Never.
I use more interesting pedals than my guitarists do.
We are a pretty odd ball bunch here on TB. We forget that a lot.
