I personally felt the location was perfect. In reality there is no central location good for everyone. Like you said, a 3hr drive is probably the radius around the location for everyone not flying or making a multi-day vacation of it. NYC is a great destination for international guests such as lucky Laurent.

I completely agree. The venue was amazing, the food was awesome. The fact that they had a bar for the people like me who never wanted to leave was fantastic.

I too definitely agree with Phil's post. I thought the venue was great and the location was no problem at all - it took me about an hour to get there on public transport from Penn Station, dead easy (but then I wasn't bringing any gear).

That's an excellent idea. I'll leave it for John and Kevin to start a "How We Organised Our GTG" thread and then other folks can chip in and we could get it stickied.

The only thning I would have changed... is that I would plan the next GTG with a specific bass for SpankyPants to "win."

It was a blast meeting so many fellow TBers for the first time, and seeing others for the second or third or fourth time. The food was great, and hanging out in the bar with everyone afterward was fun. The location wasn't bad for me, as I was able to tie the occasion in with a visit to family in the northeast.

As others have mentioned, the noise level in the room was a downside, but there's no way around that without limiting the number of rigs in use. I just felt disinclined to add to the noise, so I mostly didn't try out any other basses unless I was invited to.

But I'm glad I went. I'm glad I was able to, because in the week or so before my in-laws in Florida were both going through some serious health issues and it seemed that my wife and I might have to travel to them instead.

Thanks to everyone who showed up, and really big thanks to Kevin and John for organizing it.
