By any means am I trying to be sexist here. After a lot of years I just got back into playing and in my time not many females played bass. Now I see it's not predominantly a male instrument(not that it ever was). You can see I'm fumbling over my words because I don't want this to be misinterpreted. Mohini Dey just blew me away and I'm interested in what other artist you people recommend. Asking for a granddaughter.

I really like Kim Deal from the Pixies and The Breeders.
D’Arcy from early smashing pumpkins was very good and the bass player from White Zombie was also female, Sean Yseault. (I don’t know how old your granddaughter is or if you’ve heard their music but as her grandfather I wouldn’t recommend you recommend her white zombie necessarily)

From my world (church music), Jihea Oh plays with Hillsong (as big as any Christian band on the planet). She's a bit over 5 feet tall, and plays a full scale bass - the thing looks massive on her, but she has no trouble at all making the thing sing.

I always thought that guys had an advantage, at least some of us, in that if you've sung bass lines in choir, you'd have a head start when it comes to playing bass. Apparently that advantage is small enough that it's not a real hurdle.
