She also is the bassist for the Late Night with James Corden Band.

Start with Carol Kaye. Everything starts with Carol Kaye as she is truly a legend. One of my favorite bass players of all time is Tina Weymouth. In my opinion, she made the Talking Heads sound. David Byrne was more of an annoyance, but Tina drove their style.

Never heard this group! She's great. I saw her playing with Angels Of Light on the tour after "How I Loved You" and she was awesome. Rock solid, tasteful, great sound.

By any means am I trying to be sexist here. After a lot of years I just got back into playing and in my time not many females played bass. Now I see it's not predominantly a male instrument(not that it ever was). You can see I'm fumbling over my words because I don't want this to be misinterpreted. Mohini Dey just blew me away and I'm interested in what other artist you people recommend. Asking for a granddaughter.

If it hasnt been mentioned yet, Debra Killings. She rocks a Yamaha Patitucci 6 string like nothing..

No matter - if plays good it will do, still i think there are more good male bassists than female. Not quite an instrument for female.

I have to admit,watching a female playing bass,in a family Southern Gospel group,inspired me to want to learn to play bass guitar. Fast forward 44 years later,been playing bass ever since. She was playing a Fender Precision bass,was told by her and the family,get you a Fender Precision bass. And I did,wish still had it,1974 Precision Mocha brown.
