Fender 60th Anniversary Jazz Bass

Well, well, well! All great mind think alike! I have that exact same wiring diagram that I did on my mim project bass 3 years ago! I was kinda new to the bass scene but my dad was the inspiration on doing these circuit thing! Take a look on my take on the wirings. The copper shield was overkill but it looked nice. Had to double check on all wirings and it did work, but the PUs I used wasn't good. So went back to VVT.View attachment 4976791

The pots I used is exactly the same as what they used in this bass! Just the resistors are different! Check it out!

My question is, Is it a MUST to change the default pickup to Fender Custom Shop 60's PUs? Or Lindy Fralins ones? Hope someone still is active on this forum.

Congratulations on getting a 60th Anniversary Stack Knob. I've had mine for over a year, I love playing it. I believe some of the paintwork may have been rushed on these bases during the pandemic, and Fender's quality control is not the best. There is some lacquer overspray on part of my fingerboard, and I have seen other 60th Anniversaries with cracked paint around the neck joint, where some of the paint has stuck to the neck - possibly assembled before the nitro dried properly? Also bear in mind that nitro is a softer and more fragile finish. I like the Fender pickups on mine, I played it last night at the Alpha School big band rehearsal, and used my Phil Jones bighead pre into a little old 10" Carvin Combo, and it sounded great. This bass is quiet compared to others, but you can just turn it up and use more gain, or use an external pre like I do. I find most Jazz basses have enough natural mids, so pres like the Phil Jones bighead or a Sadowsky with only bass and treble should do the job for most people. I have Fralins in my 5 string Lakland Jazz, and they sound great two. Once your bass is played in, you'll be hard pushed to notice much of a difference between the 60th Anniversary and A Fender Custom Shop Jazz.

I'm also not an electrical engineer expert, but after changing that to a different capacitor, did it improve the sound?

I've had my Fender 60th Anniversary Jazz Bass 2020 - Arctic Pearl for just over two weeks now and I'm more than impressed. I got the bass used for a great price. The workmanship is impeccable. I also have a light version. The bass weighs 4kg/8.8 lbs including ashtrays. The bass sounds massive, transparent and balanced even without amplification.
That was a very good deal.
