Fender '70s Precision Bass

Same here dogmeat08,nice clip,a song I enjoy thumping out.
I've been gigging mine solidly most weekends since purchase and I still just love it to bits, gone back to flats and it sounds great.
Out of all the basses I own the feel of this MIJ 70's P neck is just pure heaven.
Anyone else with one still digging theirs ?

:D since you asked...

I don't gig (yet), I play a different bass at church, and I have far too many basses. At one point I was doubting my long-term commitment to my MIJ '70s Precision. Then I plugged it into my reference rig and cut loose. Whoa!! This is a kingly Precision with clean, round tone for days. Keeper!!! :bassist:

I'm digging mine so far. I got it on the TB classifieds a while back. It's loaded with an SGD neo pickup and TI flats. I love the way the neck feels on this bass, it's perfect. The family shot:

Sorry I didn't get back to you on this, though your question has hopefully been answered.

Managed to capture some video of me with my bass - I've got both pickups pretty much balanced and the filter knob fully open:

(The sound in the video is the direct signal, not the sound in the room)

I'm really enjoying mine - had a Q-switch put in so I can select how much the frequency is boosted by the filter. Love the feel of the neck, the bass isn't too heavy, balances great. Hard to decide which bass to use in this band - this bass (the AlFemBic), my Alembic Stanley Clarke, or Les Paul Triumph. We shall see!

Mine was made in Japan. I don't think I'll be keeping the TI flats on for very long. I'm not sure if it's the strings, but I have not been getting the tone I want recently. I think I need to try the GHS pressurewounds again. I like the pickup, but I've listened to countless P pickup soundclips and they all start to sound similar after a while.

As I mentioned in an earlier post here I have been full circle with mine.Tried rounds,installed quarter pounders,fitted chrome flats,went back to rounds,and now have reinstalled the factory pick ups and the chrome flats.Added a bridge ashtray and a Hipshot D tuner.
Now I believe finally it sounds how I want it to sound and feel.
Volume always max,tone just wound on (quarter).

The red bass is a ('98?) Duck Dunn Signature - I have since strung it with GHS flats - and a '96 CIJ Bass VI reissue. I recently had the Q-switch added to the '70s P, and also black witch-hat knobs - time for another photo session!

using an ampeg pf 500 amp with ampeg pf 410 and ampeg pf 210 cabs , pedals on were tech 21 programmable bass driver , mxr zw chorus ( use the mxr bass chorus now) and bbe sonic stomp ........ yeh me and the guitar player got them made up for us for foot rests and also so people don't spill booze on pedal boards lol

I did read a while ago the MIJ 70's P and J basses are quite rare and not many were made there before production was shifted to Mexico.To do with the Tsunami perhaps ?
Would be interesting to know the number made in Japan if anyone can help.

not sure what number to look for but mine is crafted in japan :bassist:
