Looks great,dig it.
Still real curious about the serial numbers,and the quantity of these that were MIJ,anywaythis from another thread,

That would make the neck at least on mine,with serial number T00xxxx mid 90's what gives ?
Old neck or old info on the serials ?

Fender MIJ serial numbers did not follow rhyme or reason. T00xxxx can also be 2011 models. I have a P and a super-rare J in that range.

I'm holding the white Classic Series 70's P Bass in my hands right now which I received yesterday brand new from Sam Ash. Box says made in Mexico, bass says made in Mexico on the back of the head stock. I called Fender, they told me they did a small run out of Japan from August 2011 to March 2012, and then moved it to Mexico with the same specs. as the run in Japan. Maybe the premium they seem to be getting for it is part of the confusion. I hope this resolves it. It sounds good, but I've had my share of MIM issues. Getting it back in the FedEx box was tougher than deciding to keep it or not. They use these crazy casket size boxes. The FedEx guy asked me what was in it and I asked him if it smelled or was leaking. After all it was 95 degrees out
Would love one of these MIJ to go with my MIJ Jazz.
But it seems if I order one now it definitely comes MIM.
Watch the Classifieds. The MIJ '70s Precisions show up from time to time. They are great basses.

Just got one on a partial trade-Oly White and Black-MIJ dead MINT with plastic still on pick guard..all I can say is WOW, The neck is spectacular on this thing. Superior action, incredibly flat, perfectly playable, nicely laquered, has a great output signal and so far sounds great stock- will have to run through the main rig live to feel it for sure and put it through the paces. The neck honestly feels better than my stock P-Deluxe- I wish they were satin finished backs but.... I do love the width and contour-breezy to play. MUCH better than the Geddy neck on a prior MIJ purchase. I may have to hot rod it..We shall see.. Totally feeling this thing thus far.. Stamped Tuners and neck plate are great..would like a different bridge for aesthetics..possible PJ configuration for me..time will tell NICE MIJ however-Im a new fan......
Man!! I wish I could make myself love a P's sound! How many times will I try and try and try?!?! That said... I love the neck and only seem to truly LOVE active basses. So, here's what's up at my house.

Um, I kind of cheated. The audio in the video isn't from the camera - I made a separate audio recording with mics on drums & guitar, and the bass recorded direct. The entire solo has the MXR M288 Bass Octave deluxe, then kicked on my old Fulltone Bass Drive, but afterwards I didn't like the way it sounded, so when I mixed the track I put it through a Mooger Fooger low pass filter and probably just swept the filter with the knob (as opposed to an LFO).
Distortion/fuzz through filter is one of my favorite sounds, but it's kind of bulky to make happen live (as opposed to studio/recording). I have a smaller secondary pedalboard in the works (in my mind anyway) that might consist of envelope filter & distortion at the very least.thanks for the info,I wouldn't call it cheating,more like being resourcefulIt sounds cool anyway.
Back to '70s P-Bass news, I have a new group in the works - for the first session I just took the 70's P - it performed admirably, though I was a bit rusty! For the next session I am planning on taking some other basses - haven't used them in an ensemble situation in a long time, it is so different playing a bass by itself - even amplified - vs. with drums & guitar, etc. But if I had to just grab one bass in a pinch, it would be the '70s.
