I pored over my Aerodyne tonight and could find no chips out of it anywhere. The entire back seems flawless to me.
I hate looking dopey but I don't know what a "bout" is. Well I might know what it is but I am not familiar with the term itself so please do fill me in.

In this context I am referring to the lower rounding of the body, below the controls, as the bout.

Well I've played my Aerodyne jazz nearly every day for six years, gigged the heck out of it, and don't have any such dings or scalps on my bass. You guys must be a bunch of Aerodyne whackers!
Hey everyone. Im new to the forums but....Ive got an Aerodyne. Pickguard less model. Its incredible. Had to lower the action a little when I got it home and ive bought a longer strap so it sits a half inch lower for comfort. Damn my height and short straps.
Can I have a number for the aerodyne owners club? Ill post a picture of it when I get home. Cant do it at work sadly.

Its the stock Black colour. Cream binding, stock pick ups. No pick guard and microfibre cloth at arms length at all times ha ha! I can feel a replacement of the J pick up coming on soon as its really noisy.
Excellent Bass though. Seem to be getting more and more popular over here in the uk too.
So has anyone replaced the bridge on their Aerodyne Precision? Apparently it's not possible without doing some routing because the original bridge is recessed slightly into the body. I've been searching through all the threads, and I only see the Jazz Aerodynes with upgraded bridges.
Just popped a Babicz bridge on my Aerodyne Jazz bass (US edition - pictured here). One hour's work to remove and replace. I know some posters have issues with Japanese Aeros - I can only say, the Aerodyne Jazz that is sold in the US is flat in the middle of the body and the Babicz is a direct replacement for the stock bridge.
A couple of points to note. First, the earth wire position on the old bridge was closer to the G string. The Babicz was expecting it in the middle. So I had to make sure that I gently worked the wire so that it sat in the necessary position to line up with the exposed metal on the Babicz bridge. No biggie - just be careful. Incidentally, the old bridge had no exposed metal - just the "black" laquer (is that laquer?). The Babicz, to their credit, had about a third of a square inch of exposed metal to improve earthing. Full marks there.
Second, before removing the old bridge, I measured both the intonation (distance of top of saddle from bridge "upright") and action (height of bottom of string from bass body just aft (meaning on the bridge side) of bridge pickup. This was in order to allow me to set up the Babicz roughly the same as the old bridge to speed up subsequent adjustment. This proved useful - only minor adjustment intonation necessary. String height adjustments really easy with Babicz. I may do a truss-rod adjustment some time soon, but I'll wait until I replace the strings with some flats that are on order.
Two attachments illustrate. Pic quality shite (that's an Irish term for poor quality). Will report back on how the Babicz works in a later post. Not that it matters a great deal - frankly, I bought the Babicz because it looks better than the original. And I bought the Aerodyne because it looks so damn fine. Have I said how beautiful the Aerodyne Jazz is? If you don't believe me, check these pics.
BTW, got the black Babicz for about $80 via Amazon from Sigler music. A damn fine price.

Just wanna know how the neck on this bass is in comparison to other J-basses.
I am seriously considering an Aerodyne, but the crap guitar shops in my area don't have one to try. Since my purchase will most likely be sight-unseen, I'm at the gathering info stage.

They aren't as skinny as a Geddy but in my opinion more comfortable. Just opinion though. They are weighted really well also. I have owned a lot of fender basses and i will say this is by far one of my favorite. I use it with my main rig now. Also can i get a number. I just bought the CIJ green one posted on TB a few weeks ago. I have been selling my other fenders sense. Finally got the nice full tone i have been looking for and i'm loving it.
The picture isn't the best and the color doesn't look right. Its the only one i have on me though. Ill take more where you can see the color better tomorrow. Ha, I was also in fact drunk for this pic. That's why i look like i may hurl.
Very interesting, not the kind of green I had imagined. Can't wait for more pics (although they will probably just give me GAS)
