Fender Aerodyne Club!

Okay guys, I need a number to join the club.
My White Aerodyne Precision arrived today and after playing it at rehearsal tonite I have mixed feelings about it.
The fit and finish is near perfect. It’s absolutely beautiful. It weighs 8.2 lbs. the neck is awesome and the bass plays like butter. There is a little bit of neck dive so I’ll be looking to replace the tuners with something lighter.
It sounded okay, but much too mellow for my taste. New pickups will be one of the first things I’ll do. I have some Wilkinson, Kiesels and Laklands in stock and any of those will wake this thing up.

Also I may switch to all black hardware (just a personal preference).
If anyone has had the same experience with their Aerodyne Precision, please chime in with any recommendations you my have. I’m keeping the bass but it needs some changes/upgrades.

I have the bright white Aerodyne Special Precision.

Ultimately, it's your bass, so do as you please, but if it were mine, I'd just get used to raising my right elbow up a bit. Getting it and my shoulder a bit more mobile, as if I'm playing an acoustic guitar, is a small adjustment my Aerodyne requires. (re: A "floating thumb" technique works well for me when I'm Dyne-ing. )

I'm only saying this because sanding would be a tweak that can't be undone.

Hey all! I'm currently trying to install some EMG GZR pickups into the black PJ model, and I'm hitting a snag with the output jack.

I did a search through the thread and it seems like other people have been able to successfully just plug and play these pickups, but I'm not able to find a way to literally fit the output jack + cables into the cavity. I first tried with the supplied jack, but the prongs were too long once the spade attachments were connected, so then I cleaned up the original jack and tried with that, and same thing. I've tried rotating it, squeezing it in, etc, but no dice.

Is my only option to remove the spade connectors and solder the wires directly to the output jack? I was hoping to stay solderless, and didn't think this would be an issue since it seems other people haven't had the same problem.

Anyone have any experience with installing these pickups? Did you have the same issue? Did you solder it in the end? Would love to hear anyone's thoughts or solutions. Thanks!

Good suggestion. I had to bend mine (export/strat jack), which eventually failed and I ended up soldering the connections. very easy. those pickups sound great in an Aerodyne!
