Fender Aerodyne Club!

I'm not happy with the pups in my MIJ export Aerodyne Jazz and was considering the EMG PJX set for a replacement.

see: Invalid Link Removed

Anybody have any experience doing this?
Opinions (positive or negative) are welcome -

Any other recommendations?

I need clarity + PUNCH for Classic + Modern Rock Band.

Thanks in advance -

I like my Dimarzio Model P/Ultra Jazz set well for that. The P punches really hard, and the Jazz is über clear.

My standard non-export Japanese Dolphin Gray issue. Sorry, no better picture for now, even no unprocessed one.

I'm planning on installing a Hipshot D-Tuner and adding a pickup selector as i need those very much. From my 3-years-owner's impression it's the best sounding and feeling and looking Fender bass ever.

AI have shielded my Aerodyne Jazz with copper foil and am about to reassemble it. I will post my comments as soon as it is complete.

As interim information, I have totally shielded the rear cavity and the pickup routings and also done a shield around the Jazz pickup. As far as I can tell none of the noise comes from the P pickup and it would be a lot of work to no real benefit.

I will be wiring a,star configuration but am still considering whether to go for a Volume, Volume, Tone or Volume, Blend, Tone configuration.

I'm planning a similar project for my Aero. It's going to get a full shielding and a complete rewiring. I'm thinking of wiring mine Tone/Tone/Vol. Each p'up gets it's own tone control wired which then runs to a master Vol. I don't blend p'ups, they are both on all the time. Just a master Vol to adjust overall output is all I need.

The p'ups in it now are Dimarzio, but I'm not certain on the models, I still need to examine them closely for model numbers to determine what they are. They sound good, but the jazz does hum something fierce.

Opinions, suggestions?

I'll let you know as soon as I get mine running. Just an afterthought. My Bass is one with no pickguard and so the cavities are small. You cannot lay a sheet of copper as if folds badly. I had to cut it into strips about 1 inch (25mm) wide and If I had to shield another Aerodyne I would I would use copper tape as it would save time.
