I originally set out to buy straight black but just couldn't shake the natural ash every time I looked.

As for pickguard changes, it will be your bass and only you that you have to please. Customise however makes you happiest.

Natural is the way to go. The am Elite is a kind of chameleon anyway, meant to do it all, so I feel like a neutral natrual works in any situation just like rest of the bass would.

Can’t believe how perfect the grain is on the OP’s natural finish ash body in the picture. You have to look far and wide to find one with grain that clean. I know because I’ve been looking for quite awhile. Just so happens I finally bought an Elite Precision today in natural ash. I’m stoked and can’t wait until it gets here. That’s really a choice one you’ve got there. Congrats!
