How is this satin finish? I played one just for a few moments at a local store and it seemed like it it would perhaps become gloss relatively fast anywhere that skin/clothes make usual contact.

no gloss on mine....stays beautiful satin

People are going to tell you that the P pickup sounds different because there is a J pickup in the circuit. Please ignore this, utter nonsense. I just bought a P/J Performer and I really like it a lot.

I owned a P-Bass with a Greasebucket briefly, and I really hated it. It didn't sound like a P-Bass to my ears.

I find mine useful and do not have a problem with it...less highs? Turn it down....More highs..turn it up.

I had an American Special Precision and an American Professional Jazz. I wanted an American PJ, so I picked up one of these after playing one at a local music store.

I am tempted to to try a regular tone pot with orange cap 47 just to see what the difference is like?.....But do not want to lose any of the amazing sound my Performers have

I love my Performer Precision. Fretwork is very good, although the last month or two it has developed a bit of fret sprout, but no big deal. Tuning wise, these have the same tuners as the Pro's and the neck is as stable as any other neck I have, holds tuning very well. I really like the pickups, they sound excellent. Mine weighs 8 lbs 10 oz. I don't know that I have read about anyone who is unhappy with their Performer
