Totally different basses, but definitely Stingray. P-bass is, while it works in some music, probably one of the most boring basses I know. The only really cool P-bass-recording IMO have to be Forget Me Nots, other than that I think the sound is usually boring, and not too easy to work with in the studio either. Totally subjective of course.

The mods need to scrap these types of threads.
+1000. It's one thing to ask which bass would be better for a given situation, but these generalized "which is better" threads really don't get anyone, including the OP, anywhere.
I prefer Rays but, a p bass can fit and fill most any style of music..... So this question is very subjective as to who you are asking.......... I can honestly say that if there were no such thing as a Stingray I would probably play a P bass exclusively.
Based on the OP's history, he's probably not going to come back to this thread and reply anyway.
If you like pedals, stay away from active pickups. Especially if you like fuzz. Also you can't hear the tone of the wood as well IMO.
