I found out about this tool recently and it's made adjustments on the truss much easier. I use one for my JMJ as well and love that the pickguard has the notch on it so you don't have to removed the guard. I have to remove the pickguard for my other fenders so either way I guess I'm removing a bunch of screws

PG removal I can deal with but remove neck, adjust, replace, remove, adjust replace…not for me. Great little tool though

Also, with the Daphne blue what other pickguard would go nicely other than tort?

Would one be better off saving for a custom shop 60's bass or try ne of these? Just wondering...

After owning AVRI,'62,63,and the new '60 It's IMHO it's the best one out of all the AVRI's!
As good as CS and real vintage!
People say poly,full lacquer or thin lacquer and what not,
that's never gonna be a issue tone wise, it's just for looks.
Check it out for yourself,it's incredible weather you put Flats or Rounds.

The '54 is hot but I already have two Sting basses with my regular mods that totaled less that $2250. Kind of absurd.

Not to put down Sting axe,Neck width and the pickups are totally different than the sting axe which looks cool but tone wise it's like day and night.

I read the ad and it all seems cool. I get it that having an bass made from the same materials and specifications as a bass from the 60's, while I have no interest in one at this point in time, will have a appeal to many. I only hope that Fender improves their QC on these $2000+ instruments. In the past 5 years I have purchased new a PBass pro V that came with a defective tuner and a JBass Ultra V that came with a loose neck. This is just sloppy QC that should have been spotted easily.

Every fiber of my being is telling me to reject these and all things FMIC (because I know better) , but I'll be damned if that oly white 66 jazz doesn't have me all gaseous….

I was just about to point out all they did was update a couple colors. But YEASSS! Oly with matching headstock is really calling me.

U can tell the pickups are completely different and sounding better than ever!
I Use to rave about my '63 AvRI Precision And my '64 AVRI jazz but The new 60's P & the new '66 J is just amazing!
They really made the pickups sounding so spot on that I might sell my all original all real '63 P and all original except the pickguard '66 Jazz !
It's that authentic and tones for days!
Definitely improvement over the previous AO,AV in IMHO!

I've been ignoring these because of my prior experiences in playing a 1.75" width neck and moving back to a 1.62", but I see the 1960 is a 1.70" neck - how do you rate it for comfort versus either an American Professional/II or a prior generation AVRI?

IMHO it's very comfortable,and if you play for at least 15minutes U'll get around it^_^
compared to AVRI '62 and AVRI '63 it's Easier because neck profile is not too thick front back feels great.
compared to Professional ll it's a little wide but very comfy but feels real authentic.

I didn't have any problems moving to a 1.75", but trying out a 1.62" in store led to me falling in love with the new American Pro/II necks, but that's more than just simply neck width, it's also fret height as well - but I've also always loved Fender's vintage frets.

I guess in terms of width, for me, it's more about string spacing at the nut. I really wish a local Long & McQuade store would keep stock of something besides B-rate Player series and Squiers, specifically these so I could try one out.

I recently tried a real '75 jazz bass at a friend's shop and absolutely love the 7.25" curve and skinny cue-stick neck.

Wondering how these newer basses (necks) are holding up and if you've got any regrets buying one?

I've had mine for over a year now and have no regrets. I've had MIM p basses in the past and this is my first American one. It just feels like it's on a whole different level. I put the mute under the bridge cover and it absolutely nails that Motown tone. I'm also very impressed with the build quality. No gap whatsoever in the neck pocket. It's hard to imagine how much better a custom shop fender would be.

So dumb question: are you happy with the 7.25 radius in the middle & upper registers? I play a lot of jazzy chords & solos, but not exclusively. Mostly walkin'.

And still its Squire that actually delivers. CV70's P bass...nearest thing to a real 70's P bass your gonna get.
