I have been actively contributing to the thread you mentioned, as well as to this one: Fender American Original Series Successor?, but thought it was a good idea to have a thread for the general discussion of the new series now that it is officially released.
Well, Fender released a new guitar/bass line....I suppose five or six simultaneous threads about the subject is par for Talkbass.

I was actually only aware of the "leak" thread. This thread was meant to be consistent with other popular Fender series threads like Fender Vintera Series and Fender American Professional II Series.
But I just discovered @Jinobass1's thread which has a lot more substance: 2022 New American Vintage Series ll (really lll)

Would one be better off saving for a custom shop 60's bass or try ne of these? Just wondering... 
I read the ad and it all seems cool. I get it that having an bass made from the same materials and specifications as a bass from the 60's, while I have no interest in one at this point in time, will have a appeal to many. I only hope that Fender improves their QC on these $2000+ instruments. In the past 5 years I have purchased new a PBass pro V that came with a defective tuner and a JBass Ultra V that came with a loose neck. This is just sloppy QC that should have been spotted easily.

Every fiber of my being is telling me to reject these and all things FMIC (because I know better) , but I’ll be damned if that oly white 66 jazz doesn’t have me all gaseous….
I was just about to point out all they did was update a couple colors. But YEASSS! Oly with matching headstock is really calling me.
Yes. Parchment, white, or even mint green in some cases. That's what the solid colors would have had originally. Tort would have been standard on ONLY Olympic White and sunburst.
Yes, I was also thinking mint green too. Or maybe black over daphne blue.
What colour would look good on the black finish?
I have no eye for colours unfortunately. I always need colour advice when it comes to dressing up nicely...
On an original, white would have been the guard color on black, although parchment or mint green would give a similar vibe. My favorite on Daphne blue is parchment, or mint green. The mint green looks great against most of the solid colors.
