Fender Back Order Wait times ~20 Months!

Not so much a question, I just want to basically yell into the abyss.
Ordered an Ultra J in November '21 was told it'd arrive by June/July '22 ... Fender then said September...Then November... Then they told me January '23, now they're saying July '23... What the hell is going on at Fender? Last I heard after querying "If you keep moving the dates, why should I trust anything Fender says to me?" was "We understand if you'd like to cancel your order".

Talk about the Big F ...

Nah man, nothing unique. And while I'm not against buying used stuff - big fan most of the time. The idea for this bass is a bit of a splash out gift for myself - new to me and only me.
My issue is, mostly, that they haven't been able to keep to their word. I don't mind a little delayed gratification but I don't appreciated Fender edging me like this constantly. It's wildly unprofessional.
In my day to day life I experience a lot of supply chain issues as well and I'm no stranger to the turmoil of the last few years - but it doesn't excuse their poor behaviour in my mind. To be told, essentially, 'choose to believe us, or don't - we don't care ... and you'll get it when you get it' is crazy to me.

But again, I'm mostly just venting my frustration. It's not like I'm without a bass to play. It's just a pain in the ass.

I ordered a america pro II on december 26th 2021, been on backorder this whole time...am only going to keep waiting since i locked in the old fender prices before that last 300 dollar increase on this model. Most recent due date shows may 5th...ouch

Same thing man, I locked in the price so ... score on that front. But Jesus Murphy. Hope you get your AM Pro II soon. Really awesome bass!

I'm old enough now, to really find enjoyment in the anticipation of material items. I have truly had unopened basses sit in my house after delivery for a week + before I got around to opening (not smart I know, but true). I had a custom made leather jacket I had to wait 4 months for, once it arrived, it sat unopened for a month (not smart, but true). So thats how one waits for a generic bass, just don't really need things today apparently

They do look pretty sweet, but that's a long time and when they say "we understand if you want to cancel your order" it's basically them saying "if you don't like it, feel free to F off". Frustrating when you're ordering their higher end product.

I ordered a Fender 1954 Vintage II P bass on Oct 22 and it was supposed to be shipped out in a week or two, now they're saying some time in February, who quoted you that period of time if you don't mind my asking? I'm just wondering if that's how long I'll have to wait. I ordered mine at ZZounds.

It's not just Fender. A ton of companies and builders are quoting 18-24 months to deliver instruments. ESP/LTD announced stuff in early 2021 that still hasn't made it to store shelves. Pretty wild!

Is there something unique about the Ultra J you ordered? There are a bunch of them on Reverb.

A great bass, got one myself. Worth waiting 20 months??? No 10 times over. They can build a standard guitar way faster than that. I also want to know what the hell is going on .... covid wiped out the whole company excerpt the janitor?
