Sorry, I kinda Pulled the pin on this thread and walked away lol. I'll try to answer some of the other questions as well.
I am in Canada, and ordered this bass through Long & McQuade which is our national instrument monopoly here - coast to coast we are rather skint on retailers. They have a Fender Rep. whom they go through who does all the quoting for their production and delivery times etc. I've also called Fender and talked with one of their phone-monkeys, and I also wrestled the Fender Rep's direct number in AZ - he was really unhappy that someone gave me his direct line and wouldn't talk to me at all because I wasn't an 'A.D.'.
As to Long and McQuade in Canada they told me they have 7 Ultra Jazz Basses on order with Fender, something to the tune of 4 or 5 of them are for orders and 2 are for stock. That's for the ENTIRE COUNTRY.
As to my bass, as I've stated it's nothing special about this bass beyond me wanting that Texas Tea Jazz so badly and I've loved the tone demo's I've heard - I have a sound in my brain like a sliver and thus far it's the only bass that's been able to alleviate the pain.
As to the Brand loyalty comment, which I don't take to be anything other than an answer to another commentor's question, this is(maybe gonna be was) to be my Very First Fender. I've never owned one before. The only real bass I've ever owned, since I'm a man of sophisticated tastes ... Is a THUNDERBIRD! Sleddogan was talking about 'delayed gratification' and while this level of edging from Fender is new to me, I'm pretty well the same way. I can wait for something I want - just not forever. If by the next date they've given me nothing happens - then so be it. I'll move on. As I said in the beginning I just kinda wanted to yell at the clouds but I suppose subconsciously I wanted to see if anyone else was having similar issues.
Certainly hearing about all the stock in the USofA etc. is disheartening. It ain't easy being a Snow-Mexican sometimes.
