Fender Back Order Wait times ~20 Months!

Nah man, nothing unique. And while I'm not against buying used stuff - big fan most of the time. The idea for this bass is a bit of a splash out gift for myself - new to me and only me.
My issue is, mostly, that they haven't been able to keep to their word. I don't mind a little delayed gratification but I don't appreciated Fender edging me like this constantly. It's wildly unprofessional.
In my day to day life I experience a lot of supply chain issues as well and I'm no stranger to the turmoil of the last few years - but it doesn't excuse their poor behaviour in my mind. To be told, essentially, 'choose to believe us, or don't - we don't care ... and you'll get it when you get it' is crazy to me.

But again, I'm mostly just venting my frustration. It's not like I'm without a bass to play. It's just a pain in the ass.

Since it's not custom shop, try one of the major Fender dealers. They might have a new one in stock. Empire Music in Pittsburgh might be a good place to start.

Not so much a question, I just want to basically yell into the abyss.
Ordered an Ultra J in November '21 was told it'd arrive by June/July '22 ... Fender then said September...Then November... Then they told me January '23, now they're saying July '23... What the hell is going on at Fender? Last I heard after querying "If you keep moving the dates, why should I trust anything Fender says to me?" was "We understand if you'd like to cancel your order".

Talk about the Big F ...
I don't understand. What exactly and where did you order? I must be missing something because I see a lot of inventory online.

Why are you waiting two years for a $2300.00 bass ? I wouldn't wait six months to get an instrument and have walked away from two basses I wanted to order , but I was not going to wait 6 months or more to cure my G.A.S. . Get some relief , mate .

There is probably 2 or 3 of those in every store in Dallas. Maybe its a Canada issue?

Why on earth would anyone wait more than a month for a Fender bass? Given the fact that Fender HISTORICALLY appears to be a complete ****show run by incompetent upper management, there are simply too many other choices here. Even if the OP is a Fender fanboi, there are easily dozens, if not hundreds of used Fender basses of all varieties available on a daily basis nationwide.

anyone actually read? answers as to "why" are above.
Read the entire thread. Understand the thought behind wanting to get in before the price hike- IMO, that “hike” and the idea of preorders is a bait and switch. The EU has sued Fender for price fixing, the company fired the entire second shift last August, fired the CEO, and evidently have a huge amount of inventory just sitting around. This is the umteenth time Fender has completely missed the boat. It’s not a pretty picture.

where did you order from? I can see these in stock at a lot of different places. It says in stock on the Fender website.

ZZounds, who are usually very good at shipping things right out, this will be the third bass I've ordered from them. But I wonder if they really are in stock in those places, Sweetwater has them on backorder too. When I first ordered it it was supposed to ship out the next week, they keep putting it up. Are they playing games? I don't think so, but who knows? Even if they are I've wanted a good American reissue of one of these for a long time and will wait.

Maruszczyk, custom configurator.
Better options, higher quality, better pricing, faster delivery (4mos).
No lefty upcharge either.

Going to be checking this out next time. Do they at least nicely route the body? I was so disappointed when I pulled the pickguard off of my AP2 Jazz & the body routing was no different then a Squier or a MIM. *** is that? I expected it to be like my MIJ that can be played without a pickguard without looking like turd. THIS is what I get for north of $2K??? So pissed! Definitely will be checking out Maruszczyk next time if they can properly route a body.

Someone at Fender should get a slap. Such lazy manufacturing! It borders on contempt for its own customers. Might as well get a Squier or MIM body & put your choice of electronics & a MIA neck on it & save $$$.
