My '92 Jazz Plus V. I was never a "Fender Guy" until I discovered this series, which seems like it was made for me (downsized body and string spacing, active electronics, etc.) Now I can't imagine not having it in "my toolbox".

I'd love to track down an ash-bodied four-string version as well as a Precision in either it's 90's equivalent (P-bass Plus) or a newer Zone for the similar features, but there's something about the American Deluxe Precision Basses with their huge bridge pickup that simply calls to me. :eek: Eh, there's always a Warmoth or Valenti custom if I'd like to combine a dinky P body with that pup.

This is my MIM P Bass. The only original parts are the wooden ones. It's had :

Black scratch plate
Basslines QP
USA pots
Badass 2 bridge
Fender neck plate
Hipshot tuners.

I'm happy with it :)

Here is my bass. the MIM Jazz(Sunburst) is the only one i own right now, besides two squier p-basses. the only additions i've done to the sunburst jazz is there are 2 holes abouve and to the right of the first pickup(neck) where my thumb rest is but for soem reason i don't know why i didn;t have it on in the picture,. the second is a MIA Jazz V that i saw at the music store today for 999$ Canadian, regular 1650$ Canadian so i'm going to put a deposit on it soon as i can.

Hey guys, your right, this thread can't die especially after I just became a member of the Fender family. I just picked up my American deluxe p bass oh about four hours ago. 78 jazz bass

note the binding on the neck but the black circular inlays on the front of the neck.

apparantly its pretty rare but if anyone knows anything else about it?

It has a three bolt microtilit on the back and the serial no checks out and all so its defo genuine.

yes i believe that it was made as part of a very small run of instruments when there was some sort of change in production or summat, the neck is def genuine, serial number checks out as does neck plate etc and says made in USA on neck also. It may well be american neck and body with newer parts(electronics) as he mentioned summat like that.

It also plays like a very high end bass not a cheap nasty beast!

Thats why i'm asking if anyone knows what it is?

the guy whom i bought it thru really knows his stuff when it comes to fender and I do a lot of trade with him so he's not going to fob me off with summat that isn't what it says it is, he's not in it for that.

The mysery continues!

hey man, yeah I did indeed!

The neck does check to 78 but Howard reckoned bits were slightly later?


Looking around the net it seems that often stuff was made a lot earlier than it was sold (sat around in warehoses for a while) so I guess it might be pos that the neck was made in 78 as was the body but was not finished and relased onto the market til early 80's hence when elctronics put in they were 80's stuff??
