Yip, that's exactly what happened all the way through that period... Fender were using up a lot of old stock so there's a lot of anomalies around the time.

I'd guess it's a lot of old stock pieced together, as you guessed. Basically necks still in the warehouse paired with some other pieces, etc. I can't explain the 3 piece, but maybe they were trying to use the last of their parts involved with the 3 bolt neck joint. Fender was sold in around 1983, and the factory moved in the years following. They probably wanted to clear as much stock as they could before the move. Pure speculation on my part, of course.

jenderfazz that speculation would kinda dovetail with what the guy said about them trying to move a lot of their old stock on before the company was sold and hence knocking up like 200 or so of these puppies. I just really wanted to see if people knew a bit more about them.

yeah doing the jazz degree at newcastle college but live here full time and am mature student so trying to do loadsa playing in the NE - slowly getting more involved.

That looks like a nice EUB, you play that all the time? DO you play double as well?

Yeah.. I play 50/50 EB and EUB. Whatever the gig calls for.

Usually I swap between them throughout the set which can be fun...

I've never played a double... I fancy getting one soon, though.

cool, i haven't got to the stage of swapping b/w double and electric mid gig yet but when I feel a little more confident on double then perhaps I will....!!

I picked up an AI Focus which makes swapping between EUB and EB a breeze.. it sounds absolutely astonishing for both, and you can balance them perfectly.

We're off to Bahrain on Thursday for a few gigs. When get back we're doing one in Blyth and then we're spending the next month recording. Hopefully...!

It's 600w at 4 ohms, so straight into a pair of cabs. It looks a little odd 'cos it's teeny, but it blows my old Ampeg SVT3 away...

and last , you have a 2channe one so you just ue one channel per instrument and then use whichever instrument?

If so does that mean your using a mic channel for one of the instruments? Is that ok?

I run the EUB into the instrument channel, and the EB into the mic channel via a Sansamp preamp pedal thingy, which warms it up nicely. Works a treat!
