Fender basses; what's new for 2015?

Here's my unsolicited 2¢...

Let's see the Classic Lacquer series in more colors... at least a 2TSB option for the P and Oly White for the Jazz?

+1

Er... Something that's not a Jazz or a Precision, perhaps?

Some more individual new models like the Rascal, an extension to the Dimension range, such as an Artist endorsed signature model? Just something new that's not based on a 65 year old design would be nice. I thought they did pretty well in the last year or two and I'm hoping for some more innovation.

Is this where the Flat-Earthers flame me to death? ;)

sadly the truth is below

:speechless:

Fender would get flamed either way.

A pile of folks will be bent out of shape and complain about anything remotely P or J released...and another equally opinionated folks will gripe about anything that isn't basically a P or J - Fender gets flamed for Dimensions and flamed for Sig models..

Considering the sheer number of new/RI basses over the last few years (Cabs, Coronados, Star, Rascals, Dimensions) I wouldn't be shocked if they took a year to two to streamline again..

+1 on the stack knobs. Bring back the "62" reissue!! Mine is about shot and I love that configuration!! And if I remember right wasn't the bridge pickup moved when they went v/v/t?? Bring back the original J!!!

There are three main jazz pickup spacings.
-60s spacing which was present on both knob configurations.
-70s spacing which had the bridge pickup move a little closer to the bridge.
-P-bass spacing which had a luthier stick the jazz pickup right next to the bridge because they didn't have a second bass for reference.

How about marking the Precisions with a "64th Anniversary" badge on the front of the headstock, replacing the first "E" in the "Fender" decal?

And maybe the case could play "When I'm 64," music box fashion, when it is opened?

How about auto-tuners on every bass, as Gibson is doing... And maybe an "Auto-play" function, too... Perhaps there is a 'smart card' that could be inserted into the bass so that it self-operates, player piano style -- could save a lot of unnecessary elbow grease.

Maybe do away with strings altogether and make the fretboard more of a Guitar Hero proposition...

How about a Pete Wenz autograph on the 12th fret of each and very bass.... And a silhouette of Sid Vicious on every case? And by the way, all case linings should be in leopard, like the Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Jr cases.

Open up the color options in general, but -- and this is essential -- Eliminate all red basses. There should be no offerings in this color, and in fact, Fender should have a "buy-back" program akin to what local cops do when they collect guns -- except in this case, the goal would be to remove all red basses from the pool -- offer upgrade quality trades as an enticement, if necessary.

He does make a strong point. If the American and Squier P5s sell so well, why don't they have a mid level one? There are plenty of mid level Jazz basses, why not a P?
They really don't sell that many P5's compared to Jazz 5's.
A MIM would be about $600+
You can find used MIA's for around $800. Why mess with the MIM? And the Squier is very nice for the price.

How about an American Standard PJ? P bass body, PJ pickups, Jazz neck? Multiple color options.

How about the opposite of that: maybe call it an American Standard "JP", with P and J pickups on a Jazz body with a Precision neck. Then some of us who prefer offset bodies can get some Precision action for a change.

Maybe I can get Fender to release a Jughead signature model "JP" when (or if) I become famous. Now, that sounds like a viable plan...

before a few sites pulled the description last week (no pictures available of course) I saw they should be releasing another Steve Harris model, this time it will be Olympic white West Ham bass with logo and pinstripes.

here you go:
