Fender Bassman 100T - chapter 2

After a massive nearly 2 month stuff-around with a dodgy online seller, I've managed to get one of my local shops to match a decent online price and my amp will _finally_ get here next tuesday or wednesday. Haven't been this excited by a purchase in a while :) I'll have the chance to put it through its paces with my 215 Pro at practice on the following friday night.

Be prepared to rock.

I know in 25W silent mode that the DI signal contains both the preamp and power amp tube signals. But if you're not in that mode, will the XLR out contain just the preamp?

The first blurbs on the amp said the D.I. was post power tubes only in the silent record mode. They later changed that on the Fender site and in the manual, and the block diagram shows the power soak to always be in the chain regardless of power switch position.

Please post a review of the head with the 215 pro. I play mine through a 410 neo but have been gassing for a 215 just to see how that flies on stage.

I would appreciate it very muchly!!

So that means that the DI signal should be unchanged regardless of what mode the amp is in (100,25,25 silent), yes?

Hmmm how would that work? If the power soak is *always* in the circuit then the amp would always be running at 25 watts, right? I must be missing something. Freight Train, I believe you about the block diagram (I'm notoriously bad at interpreting those), I just don't understand.

Oh I guess it wouldn't be in 25 watt mode just because of the power soak, as they get the 25 watts by dropping tubes out of the power section. But the power soak would still be absorbing 25 watts, right?

Confused,
Liam

I'm not exactly sure how that would work - taking the output of the 2 tubes that would be active in 25w mode to feed the power soak, while still combining all 4 for 100w output? I guess that could be done, but I'm not enough into tube amp theory to know first hand. Obviously it can be done 'cause that's what they say is happening. I haven't had a chance to verify it, but according to the diagram nothing about the tap feeding the power soak changes, no matter what the power mode. Big Snake, have you verified it?

I have tried it into the board with the switch in both positions and it's the same output.

I've got 2 - 18" JBL powered subs with my P.A. that I always DI into to help with the low end.

I realize that may not be a scientific test, but I am a gigging musician and work with sound all the time - so in my experience, the DI works the same no matter what position the switch is in.

If they've managed to harness the power tube goodness in the DI full time, that's just amazing. :) I haven't tried the DI, just tried out a buddy's head a few times, but I love it. Want one badly.

Thanks,
Liam

I'll post this here too - sorry for the confusing shite...
Am I right in this:-

This amp (& the 100T) can be set up as 2 separate channels, or U can Blend them together? Then footswitch between ch.1 & blended CH.2 or unblended CH. 2??
Also as 2 seperate channels-
- can you set up one(vintage) as clean, then the 2nd as CLEAN & TOTALLY unblended with the ch.1 ??
OR - ch.2 as CLEAN AND blended with channel 1 ???
OR Ch.2 as dirty & UN-BLENDED or dirty & Blended...???

Sorry - confusing I think?!?!!!

Basically- I'm wondering if Ch.2 can be either clean OR Dirty, blended OR Unblended with CH.1 then be able to switch between 'em.
AND...(Sorry) can the 2 channels be set with totally different EQ & Gain?

Thanx

You can't blend the channels.
