Fender Bassman 100T - chapter 2

Besides 100 pounds or so, a more 'Fender' tone than 'Aguilar' tone
Seriously though, if you do a lot of studio work, that 100T has an impressive feature set for recording, and of course, if you dig the tone of power tubes breaking up, no SS amp will give you that.
Well maybe 45 lbs . . .
Thats just the thing. I have never owned all tube but all the stuff I dig listening to is all tube and I never seem to quite get that sound.

IME/IMHO, a big part of the "tube sound" lies in the output tubes. Looking at the products currently available on the market, the Bassman 100T or Super Bassman would be at the top of my list of recommendations for you. The Reeves Classic 225 is another great head, if you prefer a more clean and a more "British" tube tone. Ashdown also makes a sweet lineup of tube heads.
Clean isn't really important to me. And I did try the LB 30 and I wasn't all that excited by it.
Honestly, you sound like me a couple of months ago, before I bought the 100T. As I said on this thread earlier, one of the best and most important-to-me gear purchases I've ever made. Transformational.
Ignore this - just found the answer to my question - speaker does not have to be connected when in silent record mode.
I've used it with both a guitar and a Bass VI. I suppose it was fine with guitar but I've got other guitar amps and don't ever me see using it that way. For me, with the Bass VI it was off the charts cool and I will be using it at shows. The only issue I had was a lot of nasty vibration at some frequencies. A couple of isolation bumpers between the head and cab took care of the problem though.

+1 That 100T is kind of optimized for studio work it seems. Really nice design, with the built in 'powersoak' and lower wattage switch (if I remember correctly). Nice!
i would already have bought it, if it had not been for the money. Here in Germany the 100T Head costs 1740 Euro here which is like almost 2400 Dollars. I can't understand how there can be such a huge price difference. The price in the states is around 1400$, right?
I hope it gets cheaper in a few months, if so I'm going to get it instantly. I tried it with the Bassman 410, which I really digged but i'm kind of curios how it works with a 2x12, did anyone try that?

I have been following this thread closely for a while and gassin' BIG TIME... Really thinking the 100-25 watt option is so very suitable for different live applications too!
Does the 100t come with a vinyl cover? Do the various cabs being offered come with a cover?

No cover comes with the 100T. I got one from amplifiercovers.com for $43.95 incl. shipping.
Having read the superb Bass gear magazine article, I still am seeking TB'ers input regarding the the low end output of the ported cabs, specifically the 6-10.
When I get the 100t (and I will... when I save the $$), I will have to use my current Hartke Hydrive sealed 4-10 until I get the scratch for the matching 6-10. Any insight to share regarding how the plays with sealed versus open cabs?
Also, any comments regarding the low end excursion of the Fender ported 6-10 compared to sealed cabs?
Any feedback would be great, even if not specific to brand.

I have played it through my Fender neo 610, Bergantino NV610 and NV215. Basically as you would expect the two sealed cabs are tighter in the bottom end, but the Fender cab is no slouch and still sounds controlled. It certainly goes deeper than the Berg 610. The Bergantino NV215 is my all-time favorite cab and the 100T sounds fabulous with it. Bass Gear Mag pretty much nailed it in their review. The Fender cab certainly has no trouble handling the lows, sounds great and I tend to use it as much because it just looks so cool sitting under the 100T 
Ok so I took the plunge and just ordered the 100T/410. Should be here in a couple weeks. The waiting will be agonizing!

Nice picture of the amps with white tolex but something doesn't look right. Originally, Fender amps in white tolex, beside the oxblood cloth, had a different logo style and wrap up corner guards, like the new Supersonic serie. In my view, it looks more vintage that way. Just a tought...
