Fender Bassman 400 power question

I am currently using a Fender Bassman 400 (black face) amp,350 watts @4 ohms. I have also been looking at a Bassman 400 Pro (white face) amp also 350 watts @4 ohms and have read that the Pro can be run at 2 ohms for 500 watts. Is this the only difference between these two amps or can they both be run at 2 ohms for 500 watts.

4 ohms is the minimum for that model.

Unless it says on the amp or in the manual 2 ohm minimum it doesn't matter what you read elsewhere. A blown amp from too low a load is on your dime for repair/replacement.

Those are about 15 years old, so repair or replacement would be on his dime no matter what.

Just kidding.

I ran the head version of it for several years, they are rated to 4 ohms. Honestly, I would not try it.

It is a great sounding head though.

Hi Guys, thanks for the reply's. I had no intension of running my amp at 2 ohms, was just curious as I had read on line and here that the Bassman 400 Pro,(white face) head could be run at 2 ohms as I have the (black face) head. From what I could gather they both seem to be the same head, they both have the same controls and specs (Fender owners manuals) and only seem to be cosmetically different. I do like the amp as it has enough power for what I do and was considering using a different speaker setup. Currently running a Hartke 4x10 @ 8ohms but it's becoming too heavy to move and wanted something a little lighter. Was thinking about the new Fender Rumble cabs or the GK CX series, a 2x10 and a 1x15 @ 8ohm each to get the 4ohms and 350 watts it has, more power is always better, any thoughts on them or other suggestions. Thanks.
