Fender Bassman 500 Head

My Rumble 115 v3 is pretty lightweight. I can throw that in the car using one arm. My Rumble 410 v3 is pretty heavy by comparison.
I haven't used the Neos, maybe a 410 Neo weighs in around the same as a 115 Rumble.

Finally jammed with my drummer a few days ago and the Bassman 500 head was as good as I hoped it would be. I was amazed at how loud it was and I didn't even push the volumes past 6. Heaps of room to move. Super stoked! :)

Is there a significant sound difference between the Rumble series cabs and the Neo series to justify the price difference? I understand speaker and cabinet differences. Looking at Fender's website the Neo's weigh 2 lbs more also. I have seen posts claiming they around 56 lbs.

I had one of the older Rumble 410's. (v2 I think - black metal grill). 4 ohms. I sold it because I wanted a matching pair of 410's and found a really good deal here on TB for two Neo 410s.

The cabs sound similar. The Neo's may be a bit warmer. The Rumble a tad deeper. Hard to say. You really can't go wrong either way...

& I'm VERY happy with my 2 Fender Bassman Pro Neo 115 cabs. A tad more of a "vintage" bent to em than the 410. I'd think you have to try em both n see which YOU like best. The whole Bassman Pro Neo series are great cabs.

So you're using the Bassman 800 with just one NEO 4x10 cab at times? Any issue with the cab being 8 ohms and the head being 4 ohms? Thanks

The 800 head will auto adjust to the impedance - 4 or 8 ohms. Most ss powered amps do. All tube amps need you to switch the impedance to match the cab/s
I had read that the Super Bassman would do that, wasn't aware that the 800 could as well, but that's great news. I wonder why Fender doesn't make a bigger deal about that in their marketing and/or the manual?

The Super Bassman won't AUTO ADJUST - as with all tube amps, you have to manually switch the impedance or plug into the correct impedance speaker socket. Amps with solid state power sections-- like the Bassman 500 & 800 (& most other class D amps, even with tube pre amps ) they usually simply have "speaker out" sockets and you simply plug in a cab or cabs of the correct impedance. The amp will sense (usually if it's 4 or 8 ohms ) the impedance and deliver less power to 8 ohm cabs than to 4 ohm cabs. That just how they work.
There is a whole thread in STICKY section of the AMPS forum that explains all this. You'll find far better info than I can tell ya, & from far more knowledgeable ppl than myself in there. Worth a read!

Hi , I am looking for a new head.
How is the reliability of the amp?

500/800

The 500 as been out for sometimes, any issues?

The amp will be used twice a week plus for 3-4 gigs per year.
I have narrowed my choice to the bassman serie and the boogie D800 plus

and the bassman would look great on my two rumble
thanks

I've had my 500 & Rumble 410 for a little over a year and love it. My only "issues," if you can even call them that, are that it revealed how cheap & cardboard box-like the stock preamps in a couple of my basses really sounded, and the fact that the amp gets better sounding the louder it is. I have trouble dialing in a decent low volume home/practice sound, but turn the master volume up a bit and I end up deafening the neighbors!
Switch the horn off on the 410 and it smokes as a guitar amp, too.
I've considered swapping the Rumble 410 for the Neo, but right now I'm still pleased with what I have.
