They’re still building the same four cash cow guitars they always have. Instruments whose only “innovations” are “limited edition” finishes, and fixes that should have been made ages ago. Even their new amps are behind the current technology curve. As is their “me too!” pedal series.

Oh well. At least the Fender players seem to be happy with that. So no worries, right?

There's a small part of me wants that one day Gibson will buy Fender or vice versa. I imagine musicians' forums around the world would go into total meltdown of brand-tribalism insanity

Reality is Uli will probably end up owning both.

I’d be more likely to bet on Music Tribe for doing that should it come to pass.

People are always quick to forget, but the majority of the brands that disappear under Fender were brands that were already falling out of favor when Fender bought them.

Seems to make sense. Fender is going for an experience brand these days versus just a musical instrument brand. And I imagine home recording is more popular than ever, so smart move by them to double down on that space.

I am saying that if they were still their own business, they would have their own line of amps offered right now and I bet they'd be cool.

As soon as the non-compete expired Jeff Genzler started Genzler which seems to closely fit your description of "what Genz-Benz could have been."

Don't forget that Presonus is also a large name in the live sound industry as well. I suspect Fender wanted to fill out their pro audio division a bit more and this was a logical move for them.

That is what I'm worried about the most.... Fender... Doesn't... Innovate... They just don't. Still debating on whether or not to kill my Studiolive 32R backorder. Largest concern will be software/firmware support in the future, supporting future devices/operating systems and not trying to nickel and dime users of their products. It will be interesting to see how this is handled.

I've been a big fan of Presonus since 2016 using their RM32ai mixer and Studio One. One reason is that they frequently update and add features to the firmware for the mixer, iPad app, and the DAW. Now I'm worried if this will continue. Good move for Fender, but worried about what they will do to the post-sale product support.

SWR was already dying when Fender bought them. They actually tried to do their best to keep the brand, but it was already too late.

There are lots of examples of bad takeover :
Gibson > everything
Behringer > Midas

So it's normal that people react to their favorite products being "In danger".

Interesting, but it makes sense if FMIC is looking to round out their portfolio with pro audio stuff. Always hope we dont see things go downhill, but keep in mind that Fender also owns EVH, Squire, Jackson, Charvel too…

I hope they don't treat Presonus like they did Tacoma guitars and Genz Benz amps. Fender (FMIC?) bought two great product brands that I liked and buried them, turning my acoustic guitar and two bass amp heads into orphans.
