Fender Custom Shop | Advice

First, a disclaimer. I am a Fender fan and that is all I play. All of the bass players that inspired me all play Fenders.

Since I am left handed, I do not have a lot of choices. I started on a Squire VM 70s Jazz bass 4 years ago. I then picked up MIM Precision bass that I put the CS pups in it. I then got a MIM Jazz that has been my gigging bass. I play in a Blues/Blues Rock band. I was close to getting a CS Jazz when I found a mint 2013 American Standard Jazz that comes with the stock CS pups. I paid about half of what the CS bass would have been. A guitar player had bought it originally and never really played it. It still had the plastic wrap on the tuners and pickguard when I received it. It is perfect IMHO.

So for me, to get a LH Fender bass to my specs is worth the $2K. Especially since there are people paying $5-$10K for some boutique bass that, in my opinion, is NOT 2-5 times a better bass.

So the issue with the CS bass would be the long delivery. Since I have other basses I can use, I would wait it out, but I understand the frustration.

BTW, even though my 2013 AS is my perfect and favorite bass, I still bring my MIM Jazz to gigs because I can relax and just play without worrying about it getting damaged or stolen.

To the OP, I would continue hounding Fender, but would ride it out and wait for the bass. Just my humble opinion.

My 2013 American Standard Jazz in Mystic Red.

I see some have posted here, they are “still waiting” for an inline bass to arrive.
In learning here, Fender laid off 300 people??? When I look at the catalog on line, I always look at the 3 or 4 basses I would buy if the GAS really hit me hard.
They are Never in stock. Never.
So who are they letting go ? I hope it’s not the manufacturing division. I guess it’s not in the CS by the long wait many are facing.
It’s not hard to see what people are buying and even looking at on their site.
I’m going to look to see if “my choices “ are available now. If so I’ll post.
