This is what I'm thinking as well. Cruz did have over a two year wait for his basses if that's any indication of how much they are revered, but I think the fact that he is no longer building at the FCS is going to increase the price of his work.
The relic on my 64 is done by Frank Cunetto and his team who were doing the first relics (parts) for Fender out of Bolivar Missouri. Before that it wasn't a thing,... or at least not a thing beyond collectors and vintage guys wanting a repair to match their old guitar. Conversely, relicing had been going on for a long time with violins and I suspect other orchestra instruments in need of repairs in order to match the age of the instrument.

Since you ordered one that wasn't available, didn't you want to spec it out as you like? It will possibly feature a quartersawn neck, but once you custom-order one you can check that feature. If you do would like to order one with slightly different specs, ask them if they can change the order, they would probably be able to do so. Of course, see the new price for your build, but it will be around the one in the link.
I don’t see why not if you’ve already bought it...even if it’s not completed yet, it will still tell you everything they’re gonna do to the bass..
You can just get the serial number from them. Email fender with the serial number and they can email it you if that doesn’t work out..

Beautiful color and the light relic is perfect. I looked at one of these just 3 weeks ago. Called up Sweetwater and the guy said the one he had was 8 lbs 14 oz. If it was under 8.5 lbs I would have purchased it but trying to go for basses now that are 8.5 lbs or under. What I like about this version of Sonic Blue is it's more pronounced and bluer to my eyes than the faded Sonic Blue on the AVRI series. The faded Sonic Blue is cool as well, but sometimes I think I'm looking at Olympic White, however, I'm sure it looks much different in person.
Looking through the 2020 FCS design catalog dreaming of ordering a masterbuilt. Does anybody know the differences And characteristics between a regular nitro lacquer, a nitro lacquer with wls undercoat and the flash coat nitro?
They must have sold the one they had because I am having to wait. I wish they had one...
I agree, it’s somehow “bluer”, yes, which I also tend to like better than the faded one
